Who was the first player to achieve a season of 50 home runs and a season of 50 stolen bases independently in their career?

(Nobody has had a 50/50 season)

Is it Bonds (Barry)? I don't think Willie Mays ever had a 50 SB season.

It is not Bonds or Mays.

Davis never got to 50 HR, right? Brady?

It is indeed Brady Anderson.

I had a strange affinity for Anderson and Devereaux in the Baltimore OF before Brady went all PED-y.

There's an alternate universe where Davis is Mays and Strawberry is Aaron.

And Dwight Gooden is Bob Gibson.

On old Swamp we had a thread about guys who used to kill our favorite teams. Over that time frame, I'm guessing about 24 of those 48 home runs that Davis hit was against Philly, because he butchered their pitching back then.

I was a huge Mike Devereaux fan due to summers spent in Albuquerque growing up and spending homestands watching the Dukes.

I think that's 6th, which is maybe even crazier than this other fact

Does it have to do with one of the islands from the far north territories crossing lines of longitude in weird-ass ways?

If NB is 6th, then that's my assumption. I further assume that it's not something semi-obvious like PEI either then.

It is the 'Vut. It may also be the 4th westernmost, just looking quickly.

Not to be pedantic, but Mercator projection probably helps you visualize this case the best.

I always get them backwards. Been a quarter-century since my last geography class. I'll show myself the door.

No - but you did just coin a phrase.

I didn't realize that this was all that surprising. Iqaluit is on a shitty island over Quebec and Labrador.

Did yinz know that fuckin' France is right next to Newfoundland? That I find crazier than the 'Vut.

This one I never would have guessed.

Who is the only artist in history to win all four general field Grammy awards in a single ceremony?

(Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist)

I was taken aback when I read it. I had to do some more searching to verify that it was actually true.

Dude. I would hate to hear what you consider to be horrid.

One of the many, many reasons why the Grammys should be as respected as the political opinions expressed on "The View."

I try not to be too hard on what might be someone's taste in music. Bad memories of Hood* jumping on me and calling me a racist for some benign offhanded slagging of Jay-Z. ;-)

Then again, if you're still a Christopher Cross fan, you're really kind of asking for it. :)

I stay away from the "Yacht Rock" thread. For me, it's like a trip to the Sunken Place.
