The most surprising aspect of that story to me is that Cech is only 41.

W&L over Colorado College in PKs to go to the final four. 2nd trip in 3.years. Also keeper broke the career shutout record set by a kid a year behind me.

Others going to Salem
St Olaf
Washington College
Amherst
St. Olaf over WAC

W&L down 2-1 with 14 to play.

It is a shame they are playing on turf (F' Roanoke). Bouncy ball and slick field is making this less skillful than these teams are.

2-2. Goal with 2:14 to play in the 2nd. After the ref missed a handball at the edge of the box. Cards are coming out frequently

College Cup semis
Beavers v. ND. Beavers will be without their starting midfielder and coach. Apparently playing an ineligible player (yellow card accumulation..8 in a seaon) does not change the outcome of the win over UNC to move on.

Yeah, this year's tourney was WILD. Hopkins had a truly crazy game in the first round, scoring 2 goals in the final 6 minutes to tie Babson, then Babson goes up a goal in OT only for Hopkins to score 2 to advance.

But, yeah, other than Amherst, those are 3 pretty random teams to make the F4. W&L the least random, as they've been bouncing around the Top 20 all year. Pretty sure that is the first natty in any sport for St. Olaf and that's definitely the farthest WC has gone in soccer.

(Hopkins beat the Shorepeople twice this year, so it's also weird from that highly parochial vantage.)

Yeah field space is a premium in our area. However, my county forces developers to build fields as part of the agreement to redevelop. So in Tysons, Capital One built a GREAT baseball field that is used by the college summer league teams on their campus and SAIC has full turf field that is used for soccer and lacrosse. My old club has been huge benefits of this as it opened up fields directly for the club and fields used by other clubs became free.

So son of a lady who works for me had her kid at their first AC Milan VA event. Camp after school from
Wed->Sat. They ran it at George Mason. Guy who stated the AC Milan VA thing is an immigration attorney in Northern VA; who used to be an attorney with AC Milan. Got a teams in the NCSL and another league but trying to get an ECNL slot. Lots of brands trying to figure out the market, but the DMV has club soccer on lockdown. The smart club would buy into one of the area clubs top teams and grow from there or build feeder model (what DC United tried to do for their academy). Also wonder if in Nova would a better angle be a club going after the Mexican and Central American community. They have tended to be underserved at the travel level (probably due to cost).

Kid won a signed Pulisic jersey.

It's wild to me that a team can knowingly play an ineligible player and not forfeit the game. They may claim they didn't know, but the rule's not complicated, so that excuse doesn't fly.

The NCAA's model of forfeit is more a no-contest than changing who wins or loses (See Syracuse's use of ineligible Gait brother car loan championship). There may be something about when you catch it. For example when the clock strikes zero maybe you can't adjust for that.

Yeah, but it's different when you find issues years later (Gaits, Louisville hoops, Michigan, USC football, etc.) vs finding it right after the game. They could have had OSU forfeit the game and advance UNC. That seems like the right outcome for a team that knowingly played their ineligible all-conference player.

Man this is all about $ and at no point have players been taken into consideration. League, domestic cups, club world cups, nations leagues, WC Qualification, Continental Cups and their qualifications, When will teams have time to rest, train, and/or make money on preseason/winter training tours.

Interesting, I was thinking teams would leave their domestic leagues to play in this, not an additional 14 games added to an already ludicrously packed fixture schedule. Not sure which is worse, but both are horrible ideas. OTOH, it'd be a lot of fun to watch... Can we get rid of the League (Carabao) Cup? What's the point of it?

Never a dull moment in Turkish football. Their supercup between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray was supposed to be on today... in Saudi Arabia, because of course. Well, the game has now been cancelled, after Saudi Arabia wanted to ban any shirts and banners referring to Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish republic. Both teams wanted to wear special shirts with an inscription on it, as a protest against having the game in Saudi Arabia in the first place. Saudi Arabia didn't budge, so both teams agreed to cancel the game and just fly home.
