Pretty nice Confed Cup final. Lot of scrapping, lot of back and forth action.

Luckily for Rangers fans, Theresa May bringing back a return of The Troubles ought to do wonders for Rangers.

USL expanding to Las Vegas (and also Fresno I think) for 2018. Will play downtown at Cashman Field (home of the AAA 51s) and share Cashman until the 51s move to a new stadium in the suburbs, likely to open no sooner than 2020.

$256,000,000 in your money. $322,000,000 in my money.

Not a bad scoop for the third best striker on Barcelona.

Wow, a trial with a newly promoted 2nd Division Polish team. I'm not up on my Polish idioms, but "old vacuum cleaner" can't be a good sign for his changes of making the team.

Can someone remind me how transfer fees work? Does Neymar get some percentage of that insane fee or does it all go to Barcelona? Did PSG pay all that just for the right to pay Naymar more?

Don't some players have clauses in their contracts that entitle them to a percentage of any potential future transfer fees though? I don't know if that applies in Neymar's case, but I seem to remember reading that being a thing.

There are definitely shadow clauses rumored to be in many contracts, and rules against a few different types of ownership of a player.

The crazy thing to me about this Neymar deal is that Barca set his buyout so high so that no one would pay it, and PSG just said fuck it, we'll pay.

As far as I know there is no buyout clause in Coutinho's contract, so Liverpool will be able to hold onto the much worse player, despite Barca offering way over his value, in their attempt to rebuild after the loss of Neymar.

2nd year. They are an open sourced team. The guy who founded four square owns them and has made there operations completely transparent. Actually very interesting to see what it takes to run a USL team.

Thanks. And...holy shit!

Does Neymar negotiate a new contract when he transfers? How many years is a typical contract for a superstar? If he transfers before a contract is up, does the contract go with him?

He negotiates a new contract upon a transfer, that's often why players angle for an exit. Lots of clubs have strict caps to what they will pay in wages, (eg. Tottenham). The contract generally gets ripped up upon transfer, and it may be only between the player and club and not transferable, but I'm not 100% on that. Typical contract length for superstars is at least 4 or 5 years.

It must suck to be Barca, stuck with an impotent front line of only Messi and Suarez. They better sign a striker quick!

Ronaldo’s son Ronald, 17, is not Jewish.
Ronald has also been a member of Sao Paulo’s Hebraica, a type of club popular across South America that functions as a cross between a Jewish community center and a country club.

Wow, could immediately pick his kid out of the team picture. Just found out my cousin made the US soccer team for the Maccabiah games. He played in the PanAm Maccabiah a couple years ago. And I just learned Jeff Agoos is Jewish. Mixed feelings about that.

3x member of the Baltimore Maccabiah Soccer team right here. Played in Detroit (host family had upper level front row at Old Tiger Stadium), Wayne NJ, and hosted in Baltimore (with soccer at UMBC). A little more regional than the games talked about here. Made it out of pool play in Wayne and Baltimore (of course our "ethical" coach rigged the draw and then managed to rig the knockout round in our favor). Ultimately lost to England in PKs.....which had at least 3 kids who were wearing necklaces with crosses on them.
