Really enjoyed watching today's game at a Gooner bar in Cincy. Stumbled across it. Wasn't looking for a fight. Was nice to go up to the girl at the bar in the Rashford kit and sing Glory Glory with her after Fellaini scored the winner.

Which bar? Was it Hap’s Irish Pub in Hyde Park?

PSG has reportedly offered Buffon a contract. I don't know if I'm ready to see him in a non-Juve club shirt.

So it's official. Calvary FC!

Not sure about this name. The games are being played a Spruce Meadows, the famous equestrian venue, so I guess they're going with the entire horse theme.

Understatement.

The Keeper should retire. One - or two - of the worst things I have ever seen on a soccer pitch. Liverpool played their guts out, certainly it was a very equal game. and for once, their defending was top notch.

To lose their best player so early in the game and then to lose because of those two goals? Inconceivable.

The 2nd goal was horrible - the sort of thing you see maybe once a season in the EPL.

But the first goal is something that I have literally never seen before - and I coached junior house league soccer with kids as young as 7.

On that second one, I couldn’t tell, was he trying to catch it or punch it? If catch, I guess that’s why so many goalies punch everything these days?

It looked like he was - for some weird reason - trying to punch it. It also looked like he both misjudged its approach angle and closed his eyes.

I'm a Bills fan who gave Scott Norwood the obligatory standing O at the home opener the next season. A fine example of fans doing what they felt they were supposed to do. No one trusted him that season. There were comments every time he stepped up to kick. And he went from being Mr. Automatic to being a shaky kicker.

And what happened yesterday to Liverpool is way, way, way worse. In all honesty, if I was a Liverpool fan, I'd be demanding that Keeper's release. Sentiment is great, but will any fan believe in this guy? What would it take? 30 clean sheets next season wouldn't do it.

While the never accurate Daily Star quotes:
According to Don Balon, a Spanish outlet famous for its outlandish claims, the Spurs boss has a release clause in his new contract.
None of the reputable sites confirm this and a couple of them specifically mention that there is no such clause.

So Friederl, Milbret, Parlow, and Robert Contiguglia go into the Hall. Need 66.7% vote as a player and top vote getter in the other categories are included. Cherundolo is in his 2nd year of eligibility and is way off the cut line (which surprises me but guessing he is penalized for a lack of MLS..I mean Joe Max Moore is in). Also not sure how el Diablo is not closer.

The top 20 in the player category:

Brad Friedel 88.1
Tiffeny Milbrett 75.2
Carlos Bocanegra 64.5
Kate Sobrero Markgraf 60.2
Steve Cherundolo 47.3
Frankie Hejduk 38.7
Jaime Moreno 36.5
Steve Ralston 29.0
David Beckham 25.8
Clint Mathis 22.5
Taylor Twellman 22.5
Heather Mitts 19.4
Eddie Lewis 18.2
Tony Sanneh 18.2
Gregg Berhalter 17.2
Pablo Mastroeni 15.0
Thierry Henry 13.9
Ben Olsen13.9
Aly Wagner 13.9
Josh Wolff 12.9
The top five in the veteran category (first-place finisher only):

Cindy Parlow Cone 59.5
Tiffany Roberts 50.0
Marco Etcheverry 47.6
Tisha Venturini-Hoch 45.0
Mike Burns 35.7
The top four in the builder category (first-place finisher only):

Robert Contiguglia 53.0
Francisco Marcos 51.0
Esse Baharmast 38.7
Kevin Payne 38.7
Hall of Fame voters include all past and present men’s and women’s senior national team coaches; all active MLS and NWSL head coaches with a minimum of four years of experience as a head coach at the highest pro level in the United States; MLS and NWSL management representatives; the MLS commissioner and NWSL executive director; USSF President Carlos Cordeiro; USSF chief executive Dan Flynn; designated media members; and all Hall of Famers.

Each voter can select up to 10 candidates in the player category.

random.. The Asian Games football tournament is turning into a farce. It starts on August 14 in Indonesia and the draw for the 24 teams was done earlier this month. Except they forgot two teams, Palestine and UAE. So tomorrow they have to redo the draw with 26 teams.

That aside, what is important to you folks here is that Spurs have released Son Heung-Min for the tournament. They are banking on Korea winning gold and Son being exempt from miiltary duty.

It's been rough for Son

2012 he declined going to the London Games to try and make the team in Hamburg. Korea won bronze and all the players were exempt
2014 he was not allowed to go the the Asian Games in Korea by Bayer Leverkusen. Korea won gold and all players were exempt
2016 Son plays in the Rio Games and Korea loses in the quarterfinal to fucking Honduras.

Other than Chelsea, there is no worse team you could support.

not because it's a bad team, but because it's a horrible, horrible cesspool of horribleness.

But, it's up to you...
