Oh, yeah. The company that acquired my company (and put me out of my job) is featured at 5:45 of this video, much to their chagrin. My buddy was their head of corporate communications until recently, so now I have to get hold of him to discuss this video. PR nightmare for them.

The warehouse fulfillment business has been trending in direction for years, but now it is getting insane. It certainly wasn't this way even just a few years ago, but you could see it coming.

I'm fully of the belief that military warehousing and logistics would go this route if it could.

What's holding it back is probably infrastructure (old, old buildings), a lack of real-time technology (we don't have handheld device to tell us where to go), and that their "customers" are downrange commanders, not the general populace sitting on their couches.

Ultimately, we do work long hours when necessary, but it's nothing to the level of "can't take a piss or I lose my rate" indentured servitude/slavery. There's no profit motive for us. Just meeting deadlines.

I was recently at a working group to put together a basis of what next level military logistics would look and be like. We're far, far away from any sort of movement on that, but our requirements for making sure our systems are secure supercedes anything that would be convenient.

While I hate to see an officer rough up an old lady, she had it coming. The officer gave her every opportunity to comply. I just can't even fathom leaving the scene when an officer says you are under arrest. I was curious to read the comments, and I was surprised I didn't see any attacking the officer for escalating to violence or drawing his gun.
