Here you go.
It's the sixth version of The Swamp. What could possibly go wrong?

Fine by me. I'm sure there are Christians who don't on either account, but their dogma dictates one, and the stats overwhelmingly dictate the other.
I'd definitely live in Tucson again.
I'm an atheist that didn't vote for Trump. And I'm well aware of the military being overwhelmingly white, Christian, and mostly Trump supporting.
There are a few Chic-Fil-A locations in LA, including a couple in my old neighborhood.brian wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 10:20 pmI think there’s some in Texas but that’s as Far East as it goes. We have Chick-Fil-A and In N Out here and in Phoenix but not sure about LA/SD. Think there might be some Chick Fil A there.A_B wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 10:14 pmYeah I don’t know where closest in and out is. I think I had it in Texas?brian wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 10:06 pmWell, I do. You can do whatever you want. My literal first posts in the Swamp were with Varitek pushing A-Rod in the face as my avatar and Hood* made a thread about an "unfortunate avatar for a new Swamper." Whether that meant anything or proved something to whoever else, I don't care.

Overtly Christian people are, more often than not, judgey schmucks wrapped up in their dogma. And I assume the worst of them.

Yeah, EDSBS and a couple of others caught up on it. I started seeing it retweeted more today myself.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 3:26 pmahhh, sorry, I didn't notice the timestamp and it was getting retweeted today for some reason(?)
Wow, from your headline I thought it was MUCH worse than it actually was.wlu_lax6 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 9:56 am So apparently if you are an inclusive silicon valley company CEO, it is bad to promote an anti-LGBT company during pride month.

I have a good friend who is a perfect example of both of these, suggesting that "Mid-40s software development manager" is some sort of odd harmonic mean of "Mid-40s housewife" and "HR manager"... :)Johnny Carwash wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2014 7:20 am 9. Makes an elaborate special request on their order. Rule of thumb: you're allowed one reasonable modification to a fast-food order. No onions on your hamburger—that's fine. Anything beyond that and you're being a schmuck.
Type species: Middle-aged Human Resources manager; schmuck.
4. Pays with credit card on an order less than $10.
Type species: Mid-40s housewife on the way to meet her life coach.
I think early on in this thread (or maybe another one?) there was a big back-and-forth over whether this was acceptable. I admit this probably bothers me less than it did a few years ago.tennbengal wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 9:05 am Um. Is paying w/ debit card not ok now on orders under $10? I rarely carry cash.
Same. Also, for fuck's sake always make sure you have at least $20 on you in case of an emergency or some other critical situation where you need cash.Johnny Carwash wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 9:12 amI think early on in this thread (or maybe another one?) there was a big back-and-forth over whether this was acceptable. I would also throw in that personal experience has a role here too. I don't even go to the convenience store closest to my house any more because there isn't another one within two miles so the lines are always nuts, but there's always two or three assholes that get a cup of coffee or a tin of chew for $5 and pay with a credit card, which takes five times as long as paying with cash while 8 people are literally waiting behind them to pay. If you can't carry $5 on you to try and make other people's lives a little easier then don't go out in public. If it's a terminal (especially chain fast foot type places) where the non-cash transactions are just as fast, fine....whatever. If it's a terminal where you have to go through the whole kabuki of waiting for the receipts to print out and signing them just to get a candy bar then fuck right off.
As I stated above, that's true in some places, not in others.tennbengal wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 9:46 am Counterpoint - debit card in hand swipes quicker and transacts faster than your average employee can make change.
That's another good point. If it's a locally owned business, almost always best to pay cash wherever possible. Should also always try to tip Uber/Lyft drivers with cash as well so they're not taxed on it.
Yup.tennbengal wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 9:46 am Counterpoint - debit card in hand swipes quicker and transacts faster than your average employee can make change.

OK, I'm intrigued. How is that relevant to carrying some cash?A_B wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 10:58 amI can always spot the swampers without kids.brian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 9:21 amSame. I always carry 80+ cash wherever I go. Never know when a card reader in a pkg garage is going to be broken or when a 20 might get you a little perk or into somewhere you want to be. Also a lot easier to buy coffee and a doughnut.
Can't acquire any travel miles paying in cash. That $5 cup of coffee and a doughnut on my credit card everyday for a year adds up.brian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 9:41 amI would also throw in that personal experience has a role here too.
