OK so I've heard this music, though I didn't know who did it. What does EDM stand for? I just think of this as FIFA menu screen music.
Electronic dance music. That's all I know about it. I also don't know why every song is song by a different, uncredited singer.
My very unscientific survey of my friend whose parents are from India tells me that this is an overreaction. I'll check with my Sikh neighbours later to widen the scope of the survey.

It's rooted in this. He made an impassioned argument.
Comedian Hari Kondabolu's documentary "The Problem with Apu" debuted last November and looked at the character as a negative, stereotypical representation of South Asians.

I know - just trying to be obnoxious.
Hari Kondabolu is pretty funny. He's a semi-regular on "the Bugle" podcast.

Does Oliver come back at all any more?
No, not for over a year. It's very inconsistent as a result - some co-hosts like Nish kumar are great, others veer towards stridency, and Andy Zaltsman really feeds off the co-hosts, so if the first 5 minutes aren't funny, they tend to peter out to "meh" pretty quickly.

Thanks for the tip. I'll add it back into the rotation, but cut bait if it doesn't start well.
I actually thought of her yesterday. I was flipping through and saw Terms of Endearment was on. Being the H-Town fanboy I am, I tuned in for a second and it was a Debra Winger scene which reminded me I thought Debra Winger was Margot Kidder for a very long time.

Had literally never heard of that guy.
You should really read the book Meet Me In The Bathroom. If nothing else as a catalog of the extensive and prodigious drug use from early 2000s NYC bands like Interpol, The Strokes et al.

He was my sister's nephew. (My brother-in-law's sister's kid.) My sister was there when the mom found out and immediately called in total freakout mode. It was horrible.

Two years later, after the pair had been dating for five months, Ayala would come forward and accuse Onfroy of the unrelenting, torturous domestic abuse that would send him to jail, to house arrest, and to jail again, then launch him meteorically into the spotlight.
--snip--
Later that day, Ayala says, Onfroy hit her again. "I was really lightheaded, because the slap was so hard," she recalls. "It was one of those slaps where you hear ringing." She sat for a second in a daze. Onfroy told her to wait and then left the room. He returned holding a long-handled barbecue fork and a wire barbecue brush. "He was like, 'Which one do you want me to use?'"
Ayala was confused. "Like, use for what?" In a deposition given seven months later, she recounts to a prosecutor: "He told me to pick between the two, because he was going to put one of them up my vagina." She chose the fork. Then, Onfroy began pulling up her black-and-white striped dress. He lightly dragged the fork against the skin of her thigh. Ayala passed out.
There are more details of abuse in the article.
