You would know him best as Eddie Haskell from "Leave It To Beaver".
The amazing part from the NY Times obit:
Being typecast was “a death sentence,” he told a radio interviewer in 2008.
“I’m not complaining, because Eddie’s been too good to me, but I found work hard to come by,” he said. “In 1968, I bought my first house, in ’69 I got married, and we were going to start a family and I needed a job, so I went out and signed up for the L.A.P.D.”
As an officer on motorcycle patrol, he grew a mustache to disguise himself. In 1980, he was shot three times in a chase with a suspected car thief but escaped serious injury: One bullet was stopped by his belt buckle, the others by his bulletproof vest. He was put on disability and retired from the force in 1988.

Hey now. Don't think like that.
(You'd definitely get your own thread.)
Seriously, your own thread, a memorial fantasy sports league and the online poker tourney thread named in your honor. Or you can keep living to supply the world with your comedy, because we need it more than ever.

Don't mind me, just in a dark mood. No new jokes or bits in 3 days, which is a super long drought for me. Longest its ever been is 5 days during quarantine. That was rough.

Mentioned over in The Last Dance thread, but understandable to miss seeing it.
I looked up and saw that he never won Coach of the Year, even though he had 12 50-win seasons. That seems like an oversight, but maybe his longtime consistent success worked against him. I'm trying to think of another coach or manager with similar success who hadn't won CoY/MoY. I'll defer to the hockey guys, but I can't think of one.

I had thought he died a couple of years ago. I guess that was his wife.

I can think of one who actually won two championships (beating Sloan in both runs).

Sloan had 15 straight playoff seasons with the Jazz, missing out on the 16th by a single game. Fourth in NBA wins, only five guys won at least 500 games with a higher win percentage than him (.603). Sixth in playoff wins with 98 (that obviously skews toward recent coaches).

Always funny to see who get tagged with that and who doesn’t.

Yeah, I looked at his playoff win percentage, too, thinking it had to be pretty good due to multiple long postseason runs. There wasn't really a way to cherry-pick that one without making "coached Utah" a qualifier.

I had never heard of him, but a lot of comedians I follow are mourning his death...
Saw the crawl on the news - the fact that he was 64 makes me feel pretty old.
And for those who have never seen it "Gymkata" is one of the best bad movies you will ever see.

Oh man, Gymkata was the first truly awful movie that I immediately loved simply because it was so awful. It seems like that was true for a lot of people. Maybe it was on HBO or some channel like that a lot back in the day? I think the random pommel horse in the middle of the town square might have been my favorite part.

Sad to hear, but this will always be how I remember Reche Caldwell:

Crazy he didn’t see the shooter coming....
I’ll see myself out.

Not really surprised by this one, unfortunately. Met with Reche a few times. I've never seen someone so calm about having to go to prison.

Yeah, bummed, but not terribly surprised. Heard he'd been having issues. He was a great Gator, sorry to see him go out this way.

He struck me as someone who just didn't give a fuck about much.

I remember passing him on campus a couple times, and had a friend that was a Gator Greeter (I think that's what it was called, essentially a tour guide for recruits) and had the same impression.

How hot was she?
Ha, valid question. Not my type.

Olof Palme murder: Sweden believes it knows who killed PM in 1986
Cops must love the books and TV shows written about them - they certainly make them look more competent than they clearly are.
Stig Engstrom had not initially been a focus for the investigation, the prosecutor said, but when investigators looked into his background they found he was accustomed to using weapons, having been in the army, and was a member of a shooting club.
In his local area he was also part of a circle of critics of Palme's policies and relatives said he had a negative view of the prime minister.
Engstrom also had long running financial problems and a growing problem with alcohol.
However investigators still did not have a "clear picture" of Engstrom's motive for killing Palme, Mr Petersson said.
...
Engstrom was known to have been present at the scene of the murder. He was questioned by police several times but was quickly dismissed as a suspect.
Mr Petersson said witness descriptions of the gunman correlated with Engstrom's appearance and witnesses also contradicted Engstrom's own account of his movements at the scene.
Engstrom lied about the moments after the murder, even claiming he had tried to resuscitate Palme.
