Does Larry Flynt warrant his own thread? Not sure what crosses the threshold these days...

The 1A dunk he threw down on the Christian Fundamentalists would suggest yes, he does (frankly I thought he died a long time ago).

Shortly after I graduated college, I spent a decent amount of time in the Flynt Publications building... because the insurance agent for the company I worked for had his office there and original documents had to be picked up/dropped off.

DSafetyGuy was there for the articles.
Awesome.
Brilliant!
First time I saw Hustler (which was banned in Ontario for a while) was in a gas station washroom on the way to Boston. I told my older brother what i had seen and he went back in and took it. I was 13 and he was 15, and I'd never seen anything like it. Extreme close ups of labia - a life changing moment, or more accurately "moments"

Billy Conigliaro, Tony's little brother, and the answer to the trivia question: Who was the Boston Red Sox first ever draft pick?
Danny Ray, who opened thousands of concerts for James Brown with a stem-winding, hype-filled introduction and ended them by draping a sequined velvet cape over the singer’s sweaty, bent-over body, only to have him burst forth in a paroxysm of soulful funk for one last encore, died on Feb. 2 at his home in Augusta, Ga. He was 85.
Fat boys are back.... And ya say we will never be wack

Yeah it did. Back when there were only three channels and most house's VCR tape collections were only what you could check out from the grocery store because Blockbuster hadn't been formed. Watched a ton of Disorderlies.

Man, that Bicentennial star was everywhere.
Here’s the other one:
I had no idea there was such a big debate over "the meatball" v. "the worm". Until this past summer, I didn't even know that the two logos had names. Maybe this should've gone in the Learn Something New thread.

Yeah I had no idea until this morning. I think I’m Team Meatball though. The Worm is too retro-futuristic for me.

Team Meatball belongs knitted onto a golf shirt or a cap. The Worm belongs emblazoned on the hull of a ship, exploring through space.

The use of negative space on NASA is awesome. Not as good as FedEx, but still really good.

Eh. Having a logo that depicts stars and orbits while you are traveling amongst them? Lame.
The meatball logo is actually a seal. They're used for special events, awards, etc. And my guess is the two were never on the same material, ever (style guide faux pas).

I used to see this guy all the time and would always stop and give him a few bucks and look into space. He was a very good guy and a pretty good teacher (to a drunk bfj).
I've probably spent more time in City Lights bookstore than any other single bookstore in the last 10 years, which is remarkable since I don't live anywhere near SF and I read a lot of books. Just not been buying a lot in the last 10 years.

At about 2 a.m. Oct. 7, 1974, U.S. Park Police pulled over a silver-blue Lincoln Continental that had been swerving and speeding without headlights on near the Jefferson Memorial in Washington.
A female passenger in an evening gown ran from the car, climbed the stone parapet along the Tidal Basin and — acting on what she later described as a frantic impulse — leaped headfirst into the frigid, inky water. Her splashdown would ripple into one of the capital’s most infamous sex scandals.
She was a staple of late night comedy jokes for years afterwards.
