I almost posted the clip with Slow Donnie and the tubes and hot air and vacuum. Still every time I go to a bank and use one, I sing Chicken Pot, Chicken Pot, Chicken Pot Pie.

Wendie Malick and Enrico Colantoni were good, and it seemed like they had writers from SNL to cover David Spade's schtick pretty well, too. I liked it more than NewsRadio because it had funnier moments, if not more believable characters.
Dr. Bobby Brown, a member of five Yankees championship teams who went on to become a successful cardiologist as well as president of baseball’s American League. (Not related to the pop singer guy of the same name.)

I think you should be banned for this.

Hey now we don't ban people here, just mute him and every time he puts a worthy death in here we'll quote-reply it so you'll see it anyway.

That'd be one hell of a way to open a eulogy.
BAM.

This is another one who arguably could get his own thread, but....

Lonesome Dove is one of my favorite books. And 'Last Picture Show' is amazing.

Lonesome Dove is my favorite book. Just inch perfect. I'm still working my way through the Berrybender Chronicles.

I've never read Lonesome Dove somehow. I also thought he was dead already.

It was a tv movie back in the 80s. One of Ricky Schroeder’s first grow’d up roles. He’s a blatant white nationalist now.
[sniff] They grow up so fast.

I read the book before seeing the TV mini-series, and was very surprised by the casting decision of having Duvall play Gus McCrae and Tommy Lee Jones play Woodrow Call. They were both great, but it seemed like it would have been more natural for them to switch roles.

Wow. I read probably 10 or so of those books. The ones about the mouse, the Henry and the books, etc.
Of course, she got me thinking about Judy Blume and Matt Christopher.
Basically built three football programs including one from the ground up (Florida Atlantic)
It’s interesting. If not for alcoholic Bob Irsay and his ass-handed meddling in his Colts’ team affairs, Schellenberger might’ve become a legendary NFL coach. Also of note: it’s pretty hilarious to quit your job at Miami when the charter for the new USFL team hadn’t even been awarded yet.

I was at a soft opening of Cardinal (Papa Johns) Stadium in Louisville in 1998, where my aunt and two cousins all graduated, and Schnellenberger was there. He was very instrumental in that stadium being built. It'd also be interesting to see what he could've done had U of L joined what was still Big East back then, or even the ACC as they are now, instead of the newly formed Conference USA in 1995, which was his reason for leaving. I mean, the Football Complex is named after him, but I wonder how big Louisville football could've become had he stayed.

Didn’t they join CUsA so they could keep selling beer?

The Big East did not prohibit member schools from selling beer at athletic events in 1995 and they were having enough problems figuring out the balance of their historical basketball schools/recent additions to their football conference.

I only know of Schellenberger from the 30 for 30 episode The U. I’ve never been a fan of Miami per se, but I also don’t enjoy them being an also-ran program. College football just seems more fun when The U is good.

I begrudgingly agree.
