Shamir dropped a new single. Pretty damn good.

Like one of the YouTube comments said, a new non-binary national anthem.

I don't want to read the article because this is the first time I've seen Idles mentioned in anything but fawning terms and I don't want to find out the article is like 90% positive.

I don't listen to as much music as I used to, but Crawler is easily the best new album I've heard so far this year and I don't think it's especially close.

Home Video and How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last are going to be very high on my Spotify most played in 2021 list.

Sierra Ferrell's debut album is one of my favourites of 2021 (and I thought I posted this before, but the fantastic search didn't show anything.)

What caused the death of rock, especially female fronted bands? Capitalism, baby!

As someone who worked for a long time in a radio-adjacent field can absolutely vouch for that analysis. You'd be shocked how few employees a typical radio station has these days. It's basically a broom closet with a transmitter. The Clear Channels and Entercoms have bled it dry.

We can only hope a video comes out of Ben Shapiro singing this song like WAP.

Really fascinating interview here with Steve Albini.

Think there's probably a lot of overlap between what a lot of us have gone through since many of us are of a similar age. Kind of nice to see someone take some responsibility for their mistakes and own them instead of just shifting the blame to someone or something else.

My youngest took a really weird pic this weekend on a trail walk where she just wanted to yell in the woods and it made her face all blurry and it took me like 30 seconds to figure out what it reminded me of.

1. Beach House
2. The National
3. Frightened Rabbit
4. Interpol
5. Radiohead

22,619 hours but that's incomplete music listening unless I can figure out a way to find my hours on the KEXP app.

This song just came on the radio and in my mind and it sounds a lot like a song I remember, but not quite? So either I've slightly altered it in my memory or there's another song that really does sound like this or a prominent cover or something?

My top artist was Billie Holiday. Solely because when I listen to spotify (instead of KEXP) I mostly listen to the Murakami vinyl collection playlist, which has a boatload of Billie Holiday.
