I think that compilation, if nothing else, went to show just how much the Grateful Dead influenced future generations of artists.

I'll toss some love to The Lone Bellow & Friends cover of Me and my Uncle too...

There were a number of technical issues which caused the show to cut out at times. I'm not sure if it was something about the filler music or me not paying complete attention or what but it really caused the late-middle batch of songs to all sound the same.

4th song in and there's a strong chance this album slots in behind Boxer sooner rather than later.

I think that means you like it a lot. I've got it playing not so loud at the office, so I'm not really getting a good listen. I've liked the four "singles" that have been pre-released so far.

I do and I think most of their songs are much better introduced album --> live so this feels like a real good sign.

Agreed. Hear it recorded first, then fully enjoy it live.

"The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness" is a dipshitty title but a real great song.

Matt's interview on All Songs Considered was great. He brought up weed at least 5x in the interview.

1. I wonder if I've flipped Alligator and High Violet since 2014. Maybe I'll give an HV ranking a go later on.

2. I bet if I did Boxer rankings right now and compared them to 3 years ago it wouldn't look like it was from the same person except in bucketing. Still my #1 all-time.

If I ever ranked albums, let me know if I didn't have HV #1.

There's one song that I specifically do not like upon first listen. Not sure of it's name, but it's the loud one with a bit of panic in Berninger's voice. It might be Turtleneck.

That one stood out to me too. It could be really good cleaned up or it could be not really good.

Scott Devendorf: We set up a whole B-station kind of world. It was called Bongo Island. We would basically record percussion there.

Aaron Dessner: It was actually just studio B down in the basement of Peter’s house where Bryan would get really stoned and bang on pipes and just record all kinds of things.

I just finished listening to the album, and yeah, that song kind of stood out in a dissonant kind of way. But for me, not in a bad way...just different from everything else.

But don't listen to me...I'm the guy who still likes/defends the song "Mother" from the Police's "Synchronicity" album.

Yeah ... no. Not even sure how it made the cut. Sounds like a bad Nick Cave impression.

Pretty sure my copy of SWB got stolen off my front porch this afternoon.

Or the Amazon delivery guy lied and didn't deliver it.

You got one download free with every ticket but I sent my other to a friend who doesn't like them as a joke. I'll check if he used it.

Thanks, but Amazon gives you the digital version free with the CD.

Not sure whether I should be more pissed or shaken or bemused.
