I was able to take advantage of Amazon SAME DAY shipping a week or two ago, and I was aware that the packages would possibly be delivered by some rando in a car (it ended up being a silver minivan) and not the USPS or UPS. Fine. That was pretty great regardless.

But I've had deliveries (two day Prime shipping) the last two days, and both times got a call from AMAZON LOGISTICS with a person on the other end of the line telling me they were standing on my front lawn and that they needed to know if I was home, and if not what should they do with the box they were holding. Is this a new thing, and is it just a result of Amazon crowdsourcing deliveries?

Amazon has publicly stated they are going to compete with Fedex/UPS/USPS on package delivery. I have a buddy who works for Fedex and was fielding calls from Fedex recruiters. I think they are in the middle of transitioning and developing the service. Don't know how much is crowdsource/contractors v. amazon run locations.

So kids, what is being released today that would prompt a bunch of people to line up in the rain outside a Foot Locker on a godforsaken NJ highway at (and almost certainly before) 8:30AM on a Saturday?

That's my best guess though. The email makes it seem like they are available via the web more than a store. But...if that line exists at a shoe store, then I'm going to say they're available.

No. But I probably wouldn't be against having one if there was some sort of grocery item I regularly bought from Amazon.

I wanted to order the Trojan button just because it was so ridiculous.

If you were ever going to do it, the dash buttons are $1 today with a $5 credit after your first order via the button.

Seems like there's some twisted potential SNL skit where a guy brings a girl home from a date and she walks in to find ropes and chains and the guy is mashing on his Amazon Prime Trojan button.

Pretty unimpressed though I did get a pair of NB running shoes for $28. The deals on Amazon devices were decent, but I don't need any. My Fire TV and tablets run like champs. And I could be swayed to get an Echo, but only $30 doesn't really move the needle for me.

I think I will get a fire TV for the upstairs bedroom TV. I've bene mostly pleased with Playstation Vue so this will give all my TVs working programming.

There is a woot-off and free shipping going on today, too. I got some socks!

$25 for a fire sick that you can sideload Kodi onto means you've basically cut the cord for the cheapest possible price.

It technically started last night though. And naturally after seeing the board game deals weren't ones in which I had interest, I kinda tuned out.

Well, it just so happened that if a game that you'd purchase was fulfilled by Amazon, multiple redundant discounts were applied and you got the thing for stupid cheap. This went on for 45 minutes before Amazon recognized the error.

Still trying to figure out whether bronto's tweet about King of Queens was sarcastic or not.

Anyone getting anything for Prime Day?

I bought a 50 inch toshiba fire enabled tv because I had a tv go out in kids loft area. Got a good deal. 220 after some rewards I had.

For History buffs the best WWI single volume history I've ever read, "A World Undone", is a kindle daily deal at $1.99. I guarantee it was leaned on heavily for the Hardcore History WWI pod.
