Read the fact in my before-bed book, and typed that on my phone (which is an old ass phone as my new one fell a foot and now refuses to turn on) and it was ~ 1 AM, I wasn't spellchecking.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

I didn't watch Mad Men but I assume the era would be right? The wiki page said it was a topic on the Ms. Maisel show.

The little black pellets that go in artificial turf are called "crumb rubber", which does not sound like a double entendre in any way.

There have been some articles that those pellets are causing players to get sick... Like, even tying it to cancer.

I'm like... Are you eating that stuff?

There was a study with less than great data pointing to soccer goalies having an increase in cancer and tying it to playing on the fake grass/pellets.

Yes, that's what it was... Again, I've played on a lot of those fields. Don't ever remember ingesting pellets. Seems pretty far fetched.

Maybe breathing toxic fumes it puts out? Or absorbing something through your sweaty pores? With the amount of pellets my daughter leaves in her bathroom floor, the garage, etc... she has millions of them on her or in her shoes and socks, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah, that's a much more likely cause/effect... But as wlu posted, the data was really questionable.

Killing Me Softly With His Song was largely based on the songwriter’s (not Flack) experience seeing Don McLean perform in concert.

What if the cover was based on Hill's experience seeing Flack sing that song in concert???

I didn't learn this today, but when I caught up with him a few weeks ago. One of my best friends from high school was part of the team that set a Guiness World Record for LEGOs. He's a surgeon now, and said this hurt his hands for a week afterwards.

Martin Short was only on SNL for one season.

That boggles my mind. Ed Grimley, Jackie Rogers Jr, Nathan Thurm, the synchronized swimming sketch. Incredible output for such a short run.
