I'm sure he'd blanch at the comparison, but Simmons reminds me of another rich bully we all know and love.

Hey, The Ringer has an e-mail newsletter now! I'm sure the year 1997 is totally stoked.

Zach Lowe was the guest was the guest on Richard Deitsch's SI Media Podcast and there is a fair amount on his experience with Grantland. You can start about 22:45 for the Simmons/Grantland portion. It's on iTunes or the page at si.com is here.

Simmons is returning to his roots...(The Boston Sports Guy started out by sending an email newsletter every morning, mostly of links to other stories on the web).

Bill Simmons's new tv show is called Any Given Wednesday.

It will cover sports and pop culture. And sounds like your other typical 30 minute news-ish shows.
"I'm excited about the show, I'm excited about the title and I'm really, really excited to drop my first f-bomb on TV," said Simmons in a statement. "We are going to figure out nudity down the road, as long as it's tasteful."

I would pay Simmons money to never have Michael Rapaport on his podcast again.

That bad? BS has gotten into a bad habit of talking over his guests. He didn't do it with Chris Sacca, and I really enjoyed that pod. He was horrible with Wesley Morris after Prince's death, and did the same thing with Key and Peele. He also seemed like he was full of shit about the Key and Peele show. Key asked him what skit he'd show his kids, and BS seemed like he couldn't name one of their skits.

I once saw Rapaport in a movie where he said "I'm hopped up on wine coolers and antidepressants." That was pretty funny. Otherwise he should be fired into the sun.

He was pretty good in True Romance. Maybe because he was playing a dipshit version of himself. But I mostly agree.

There was an episode of Louie, he played a dipshit cop version of himself, and he was great. But generally, not so much.

Yeah, I like Simmons more than most people here, but that was still kind of cringey.

I hope for his sake his show leans heavily on guests/correspondents and pre-produced segments. If it's just going to be him ranting into a camera for a half-hour, then like DSafe said I don't see how that will find an audience with people who aren't already his devotees.

Then he posted "This is fair." underneath the comment showing that he 100 times more of a sense of humor about himself than Simmons does.

The front page has an article called "Joe Buck is Underrated." It begins with an anecdote about how Joe Buck met his current wife by having an intermediary ask for her number while she had a live-in boyfriend. I'm going to throw up on my keyboard now.

My thought process exactly.

Sports...ok...well tech could be cool...I listen to lots of podcasts already but alright...NBA I could give a shit but yea...GoT? How does that fit your model?
