2014 Fantasy Football Complains/Brags/Help Catchall

So anyone know anything about being in a PPR league? It's a strange format this one. 6pt QBTDs, standard bonuses for big games from WR, QB and RB. Extra points for 40 and 50yd+ TDs for all positions. 1 Point per reception and 1 point per pass attempt/rush attempt. QB, RB, WR, WR, TE, DEF, K, and two flexes where you can play anyone you damn well please.

I'm thinking for obvious reasons you go high on elite QBs early to fill those flexes. Beyond that I'm lost. Never done PPR and all I knew before was DRAFT WELKAHHHHHH. Which seems to bee a poor strategy this year.

YEah, if you get points like that for QBs I'd probably go QB on my first three picks unless a top 3 guy was staring at me. would give you trade leverage as well. And probably makes picking up a receiving RB a good option too, like Woodhead, later.

I would go QB heavy during the draft since you can start up to three.

RB would be my lowest priority since you're allowed to only start one.

I've been in the same PPR league for 23 years now (our league predates common usage of the internet!). If you don't get enough elite quarterbacks for those flex positions, find running backs who catch passes. Think about it. Every swing pass caught is equivalent to 10 yards rushing (plus of course you get his receiving yardage.) A guy like Danny Woodhead goes from mediocre up to very good, and a guy like Matt Forte goes from very good up to great.

I'd rather have Vareen than Woodhead in a PPR.

I generally hate all Pats RBs, even in PPR leagues - just because the variability in performance of the backs under Belichick game to game is so extreme.

Nah, Vereen will get the rock. Especially in the pass game. Ridley might get cut and theres no one after that.

Okey dokey. until he doesn't.

There's the rookie White. And there's probably the guy selling hot dogs who they can bring down and give carries to.

So if you have the 10 spot in a 10 man PPR league, and let's say the 9 off the board are AP, Shady, Charles, Forte, Lacy, Lynch, Calvin, Graham, Dez...

Too soon for Ball there and a WR (probably Thomas or Green)? The top two running back tiers are so short, I don't think I can wait until 3.30 to get one.

I have Ball rated highly enough to consider him there but I think you have to sprain your clicking thumb picking AJ Green.

Business Horse has the WR top tiers as thinner than RB top tiers. I have Giovani Bernard as the 5th RB this year. I think the industry rankings are way out of wack this year on RBs.

Yeah, not Green. Thomas or Marshall likely.

So you'd draft Bernard in the 1st round?

No, because I can get him in the 2nd. But I do think he'll provide 1st round value.

If Green is gone I'd take Thomas. I have like 4/5 WRs up top and then a huge dropoff after that.

You have Calvin, Green, Dez as top 3?

Dez Bryant screams "stay the fuck away from me". Just my .02 -- either below what people are expecting on field or off field trouble or a combination.

I think he's going to be huge since that defense is going to be atrocious. They'll be putting the ball in the air a lot. He was my target at #12 in a 14-team draft, but couldn't pass on Graham at that spot when he fell to me.

Johnson, Green and then Thomas are my top 3. I have Dez either 4 or 5. I would be frightened by the thought of depending on fantasy Julio Jones.

And in my fantasy league of Patriot fans, that guy selling hot dogs will be drafted in the 5th round. But enough about Chad Jackson, owning Dez Bryant was very frustrating last year. They never seemed to throw to him enough.

Ecstatic to have been able to grab Peyton with the 6th pick!

Which means he's hurt by his bye week.

Anything important happen in the last week or two? Any rookies or camp battle winners looking good? Any sleepers have a great preseason? I saw Gordon suspension upheld one day after I declared him a keeper. Only lose an 8th, 6th next year, so would have kept him anyways.

Week 1 - Eli @ DET or Rivers @ ARI?

25 yds = 1
TD = 6
INT = -2

I would only use Eli if my regular QB was on a bye or dead.

Rivers all day. Starting Eli is something people actually consider?

It's a 2-QB league and I have Rodgers so it's not something I'll usually care about. I just see Lions D and imagine 51-45 games. Even if he gets picked off 5 times. And Rivers vs. Pat Peterson scares me. I'm overthinking.

In the Times this weekend, Manning said that he's still learning the footwork of the west coast offence.

I picked up Rivers off the waiver wire last year and he was pretty damn good.

Detroit's D may stink, but Rivers is the obvious choice.

Darnell Dockett is also lost for the season for the Cards' so that is a significant downgrade to their line.

Tavon Austin VS MIN -- No Bradford but ESPN has bigger projection so far

OR

Golden Tate VS NYG -- Lower projection, better QB, legit #2

PPR league with bonuses for long catches and 100+ yd games. Who ya got?

Ok, here is my stupid idea...

I am seriously considering starting Jake Locker over Aaron Rodgers this week!

The only thing stopping me from doing this so far is my belief that the refs/umpires will be looking to set their stall out early regarding contact beyond 5 yards from DBs and LBs. Therefore, Rodgers and the Packers' receivers will be helped enough to balance out that they are playing the Seahawks in Seattle on Thursday night.

The Chiefs D will likely be worse this season and the Titans' passing game significantly improved.

Am I mad to consider Locker over Rodgers in week 1?

I wouldn't start Austin until you get a look at that offense, BSF.

With Wes Welker on the sideline, and some Saints scrub banged up, my three WRs are DeAndre Hopkins, Ruben Randle and Jeremy Macklin.

Macklin is a no brainer, but since I am starting three RBS (Ellington, Morris and Fred Jackson) it comes down to Randle or Hopkins?

I have no clue so I will do what my fellow Swampers say.

Yep, I imagine this was posted post game or during the game and has a touch of sarcasm.

"Don't over think it, always start your star players..." This type of decision making process has led to more weekly losses than I care to think about.

Its time to totally ignore the views of the so called experts on websites etc... They are clearly cunts and know nothing, the cunts!

In my main money league, we drafted Ellington, Welker and Ray Rice. We are on a fucking roll.

I also drafted Ellington in the Swamp league. And, Dwyer was picked up before I got out of bed today. And with 18 teams, you know I've got a deep bench.
