I'm still getting used to them, I suppose. I use credit and debit cards for just about everything so I don't handle that many of the new bills. One thing I do notice a lot, mind you, is when getting change back (at, say, a grocery store), the cashier will hold the polymer bill between their thumb and forefinger and rub them back and forth a few times to make sure they aren't giving you an extra $20 in change. I've heard a few of them say "I've given away too many $20's as change already because of these things." And that's happened to us. My wife and I were in a grocery store a couple of months ago and the cashier gave us two $50s as part of our change instead of one. It looked like one, felt like one, but there were two of them there; we had to go back into the store to return it to the kid (it would have come out of her pay otherwise).

Having two polymer bills stuck together is particularly easy to miss if they are mixed in with a bunch of older, paper, bills.

Mind you, the tellers say that counterfeiting is down by over 90% (although that could simply be because the counterfeiters haven't figured out the new bills yet).

Teenager arrested and expelled for intellectual curiosity.
BARTOW, Florida - No one ever expected to see a mug shot from 16-year-old Kiera Wilmot.

The teenager is known among staff for her exemplary record at Bartow High School and her status as a good student.

"She is a good kid," said principal Ron Pritchard. "She has never been in trouble before. Ever."

All of that changed on Monday morning.

The teen is accused of mixing household chemicals in a tiny 8-ounce water bottle, causing the top to pop off, followed by billowing smoke in an small explosion.

Wilmot's friends and classmates said it was "a science project gone bad, that she never meant to hurt anyone."

Even the teen's principal said, "She made a bad choice. Honestly, I don't think she meant to ever hurt anyone. She wanted to see what would happen [when the chemicals mixed] and was shocked by what it did. Her mother is shocked too."

Mayor Bloomberg denied a second slice of pizza in NYC pizza joint.

Sounds like an Onion article, but it's real. And hilarious.

I've been following this story a few days ... a 17-year-old kid was unhappy after being shown the yellow card, so he punched the ref.

The ref is now in a coma.

And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I see stories from this site all the time on Facebook. I don't think they understand the concept of satire. It has to be exaggerated to be funny. They are trying to be the Onion, but just fall short of being funny. The best example was a story about Paul Ryan refusing to tip a waiter and using Ayn Randian terms to denigrate him and telling him to get a real job. People got really angry over the article, as they believed it.

In my defense, while I get that this was satire, it definitely seemed plausible. About 99 percent of the Onion's stories are obviously satire. This one wasn't exactly over the top.

Oh, for sure. And it is the sort of thing that one would quite want to happen.
Although, if it did happen, it would only show that someone is missing the point. Bloomberg was not trying to make it illegal to buy two drinks.

Sigh. It's about restrictions, Steve. I would also refer you to the precedent setting case of "What Goes Around" versus "Comes Around". See also: "Hoist" versus "Petard".

Ugh. So far none of the papers have said how he could be killed from a single punch. I guess the kid gets charged with manslaughter now.

Air Force sex assault prevention chief charged in sex assault

This is going to be a huge story nationwide and will completely send the Air Force culture further down the rabbit hole. Ya know how it was brought up about 'Rape Culture' being a catch-all for everything? It was already standard according to the very office this man fronted that if a member consented to having sex with even a single drop of alcohol in his/her system, there was no consent at all. Either the member was predatory (usually the guy) or the member was taken advantage of (usually the girl).

After the Lackland Scandal & the sweeps in December that zeroed in on mysoginistic material like Men's Health & Women's Health magazines, we're in for a royally fucked time now. More training. More witch hunts. And Allah knows what else in terms of 'Rape Culture' catch-all nonsense.

But hey, this girl fought back. And good for her. Look at his mug shot.

Great cause. Very worthy cause, in fact. But a thoroughly idiotic name for it. And the website is almost afraid to admit what they are. I had to look up "FGM" for example. And if you look at the second slide (above the fold, as it were) the headline proclaims "Enjoying My Sexuality At Last!" I would have thought that female genital mutilation caused far more problems than limiting one's enjoyment of their sexuality. And in the "About" section you find this:

Clitoraid aims at empowering FGM victims by helping reach their first orgasm
Clitoraid is about celebrating sexual freedom and pleasure for all women in the world
Clitoraid is about promoting campaigns against female excision
Clitoraid is about promoting free sexuality and exploration of masturbation
Clitoraid is about sharing pleasure, hope. kindness and femininity

Okay. Finally something less focused than the Occupy movement.
