Swamp Fantasy Hockey 2014-2015

Post by sancarlos »

So, I've re-started the engine for the Swamp fantasy hockey league. Invitations were sent to last season's participants. If you'd like to join the league but weren't in it last season, let me know and we'll add you. I set the auction draft for Saturday, Sept 27, at 7:00 pm Eastern time. If people prefer something different, let me know - if enough people can agree on a different plan we will change it.

I know there was also another league last season - you guys should join this one!

I can't make draft (Ryan Bingham!), but that may be a good thing for me.

Tom, you assemble a team of forwards, defense and goalkeepers. Weekly head-to-head games, but counting the category wins rather than "game" wins. Our categories are goals, assists, plus/minus, shots on goal, face off wins, power play points, penalty minutes, goalie wins, goals-against average, goalie saves, shots against and save pct. You need to modify your starting lineup regularly.

We are planning an auction draft. Which means we all have the same bankroll with which to assemble a team. We take turns nominating players on which to bid. The draft program won't allow you to bid so much on any player as to prevent you from having enough money left to complete assembling your team.

Hope that helps. Join us! The current draft time would likely be problematic for you, but we could modify it.

This sounds interesting...

So head to head on the categories and the player with the most category wins (out of 12) wins the weekly matchup?
What happens if you draw 6-6 in the categories?
There will be players that play more matches than others during a given week. Do all matches count toward category totals?

Not quite right. You can get up to 12 wins (or losses) each week. There will be players with more or fewer opportunities to score each week, but it evens out over time. If you want in, pm me your email address and I'll send you the Yahoo invitation.

I'm in a free fantasy hockey league, and I'm looking for free, relatively reliable 2014-2015 rankings. I have no idea what I'm doing.

Would you guys go Lundquist 1, Nash 2, St. Louis 3, McDonagh 4?

What do you use?

(Thanks)

Hoo boy. That puts us at an odd number of teams, which is a problem for head-to-head games. Yahoo won't let us draft unless we get a replacement for Tom right quick. Rush? C'mon! Join us!

Buffalo Soldier just asked if we could move the draft from Saturday at 7ET to a different date. Yahoo isn't letting me reply, so I'm doing it here. I'm sympathetic, but I don't want to get into the circle we did in the fantasy football, where every time the draft date got moved, it pissed off somebody new. If we moved it to Sunday at 7ET, please advise if that would screw you up.

I would also prefer something slightly later, but either night is ok with me. I pretty much sat out the first hour of the draft last time anyway, if I remember correctly.

The only start times available Sunday were 7:45 pm and earlier, or 9:30 pm and later, so I've set the start time at 7:45 pm.

K cool, i was planning on being there, but I just got a text from a girl saying her kids are staying at her parents tomorrow night and she wants me to come down and then followed up by saying 'we are going to have fun tomorrow night'. I might be reading in between the lines too much, but I believe this is good news for me! Maybe she'll let me use her computer...

K, i think I might be able to do it on my phone. Don't like this autodraft thing, might set prices too high and spend too much too fast... but i'll have it set up just in case. Just gotta make sure i get rid of the players i don't want! Sunday night would have been better, but way too late to change that i guess.
