Deadspin has become my Grantland replacement. It's not the same, but I've taken to checking it way more often than before the plug was pulled on Grantland.

Same here. It seems less sophomoric than in the past.

I used to avoid it but now it's one of my favorite and most visited sites. I skip over half the things they post but they put up a lot of good stuff, IMO.

To me, Deadspin and Gawker are 90 percent fluff and nonsense, but the 10 percent (probably higher) is VERY good and worth a read.

Same thing with Buzzfeed. A LOT of bullshit, but some of their longform stuff is incredible.

I skimmed through first two pages of posts and nothing caught my eye. I have certainly read things there but not just because they are deadspin. And that's the grantland difference.

Care to pick another country that is fucked, Howard?

Imagine a) not being in on what the hell he was doing and b) sitting towards the back

You'll pry my cargo shorts from my cold dead fingers. But then again I'm 42 and don't really give a F what anyone thinks about it.

I guess if you have kids maybe it's different but how much shit are people carrying? Keys, phone, and wallet all fit nicely in my non-cargoed shorts.

But my cargo shorts are a bit more roomy anyways. Plus I like having my phone in the leg pocket. Add in keys and cash, and the cargos work perfect. A pocket for each item and no cramming on the jewels.

52 and I thought they were cool.

They really come in handy on the golf course. And I don't give a F either.

Almost 52, and I'm wearing cargo shorts right now!

This is probably about the first thing I've ever heard that was "uncool" where I was like:

"Yeah, whatever. Fuck that."

Which I suppose is an inevitable sign of aging. And I'm OK with that.

And I am so comfortable right now...

I switched from jorts to cargo shorts like 9 years ago (I'm about to turn 33) because Bobby Pentagonz made fun of me. Now I'm a middle aged dad? Ugh.

What kind of fucking shorts are socially acceptable? I live in the desert. I'm not wearing those pastel shits that Yacht Bros wear.

Fight the influence of Big Shorts. Wear what you like.

Me too for all of this. I think I only have one pair, and they have a rip below the pocket, so they are just for doing work around the house.

These are still cool though, right?

We carry more shit than ever now, so I don't want to hear about utility when we're trying to figure why they aren't cool anymore. Because they were cool. We all remember they were cool, right?!?!

And yes, I use every inch of those pockets on occasion (hi, ladies!)

Let me clarify. I don't give a fuck what anyone else wears, I just am not a fan of them for me.

Personally, I don't care, but it's definitely a real thing. My girlfriend thinks cargo shorts look incredibly stupid so I basically stopped wearing mine unless I'm going for a hike or something.

I think there are trends you can look back on and say "this was pretty stupid". Cargo shorts/pants are at or near the top of that list.

(Edit 15 seconds later: Carpenter jeans are #1.)

Glasses are the big one because I don't like wearing my regular ones on my shirt like I might with sunglasses. So when we're out shopping or something where I'm going inside/outside all the time, I just throw them in a pocket. And they get their own pocket because, clearly, I don't want anything to happen to them.

Keys, phone, wallet, shit the kids carry around like a DS or a toy. Sometimes my wife's phone because I take it from one of the kids. My Mark McGwire Team USA card in plastic case. Tape measure. Voter ID card. My hands.

Are carpenter jeans the same as painter's pants?
