This week's season premiere of South Park, skewering Snyder, the Redskins, the NFL, Goodell, and Apple was great.

Shit, I have been cellaring Bud Light and Bud Lime for years to give to my kids when they turn 21.

ETA: I didn't read the linked story before, but in 2006 The Redskins sold peanuts packaged for an airline that went out of business. That is some chutzpah.

If we revise down their costs, maybe that Royals postseason windfall will be a little bigger than you guys thought.

So Fed Ex Field this weekend hosted Argentina v. El Salvador. DC has a HUGE number of folks from El Salvador. So what happens.....they play the Isle of Mann national anthem instead of the El Salvador

I was at this game, and the anthem was the least of it:

* A combo of clueless drivers and severe understaffing led an absolute shitshow in terms of traffic. The guy who drove us knows what he's doing, so we zipped around to the back of the stadium, but overall, it was just really poorly done.

* $40 for parking. Fuck you Dan Snyder.

* At the entrance, only female attendants would frisk female patrons. Which, ok, fine... But there was no signage saying that, and women/children would get to the front of the line only to be told to get in a line with a female security person.

* The frisking was... thorough. And I don't really care that much, but man... This guy was all in my pockets and stuff. It was just a little bit much.

* Once inside, if you were going to the 300/Club level, you needed to show your ticket again to get on the escalator. That was an absolute shitshow, with 2 or 3 security people trying to eyeball 1000s of ppl trying to get upstairs. And, again, no signage, so a bunch of jabronis are in that line who shouldn't be, and they start arguing and holding up the line. And, of course, it's not a line, more of cattle being shoved through narrowing gates type of deal.

* Finally upstairs and head to our seats. Again, under-staffing rears its head, as their aren't enough attendants checking tickets, and there are 100s of people not in their proper seat. So now you are in a position of asking drunk El Sal dudes to get out of your seat, and their trying to pull the no habla bullshit. Luckily, a guy behind our row was all GTFO to these guys, so they left.

* This act was repeated after half-time, but we grabbed an attendant that time before even heading down to our seats.

* The bar was under-staffed. We were smart and had one of our crew go out in the 45th minute, but man... People were getting PISSED.

* Tickets said game was supposed to be at 4, but didn't kick off until after 4:30. I had been tipped off to this, but it was cold as shit and I'm sure others were put off by this. Fucking Snyder.

Overall, we had a good time. We didn't care about the outcome and we were able to go inside to warm-up.

But still, Fuck Dan Snyder.

In an irony that will surely be lost on team owner Dan Snyder, the Washington Redskins are being kicked off their land.

Figured this piece is Redskins related.

Albert Haynesworth wrote a really interesting piece.

(Yes, I just typed those words).

Sure, some of it may not be true - but the stuff about the Redskins is crazy.

That was the best thing I've read about football since Paper Lion. This represents considerable wisdom, and beautiful writing. If Albert Haynesworth produced even half of either, then he is a very smart man. I'll certainly think about him differently. I'd love to read his autobiography.

The part I liked best? His appreciation for hanging drywall in a condo in South Carolina. No doubt without air conditioning. If you've done this for a living, you know what I mean. Not many have seen the highest high that sports can deliver and still have this kind of soul.

Every young athlete from teen star to pro free agent would benefit from reading this a dozen times each year.

Still has state protection that he can rely on. Danny boy is backed into a corner. He publicly said he would not change. At this point he loses face (and potentially licensing $) on this no matter which way this falls. If he switched names, I bet nobody would have challenged the trademark and he could continue to make money on both the old and new name/logo. Now he may lose a chance to make money on "throwback" items. Similarly if he took the slow play, "this is a serious and complex issue that I will work with the community on...yada yada yada..slow roll" he would have given himself time and options.

Redskins claim more people read about their training camp than live on Earth.

(Headline is a little misleading, but even the numbers they're claiming are calculated really, really hinky and this IS what I do for a living.)

Running a business where the customers are nuisances.

But as detailed elsewhere, Redskins fans have taken a lot of abuse from this team and have kept coming back over and over. Sure, they may be ripping out some seats, but there are still 70,000 or so fish who are willing to put up with the abuse on a regular basis.

Washington's opening brief in their appeal of the above decision:
The PTO has registered hundreds if not thousands of marks that the Team believes are racist, or misogynistic, vulgar, or otherwise offensive. By way of example only, the following marks are registered today: TAKE YO PANTIES OFF clothing; DANGEROUS NEGRO shirts; SLUTSSEEKER dating services; DAGO SWAGG clothing; DUMB BLONDE beer; TWATTY GIRL cartoons; BAKED BY A NEGRO bakery goods; BIG TITTY BLEND coffee; RETARDIPEDIA website; MIDGET-MAN condoms and inflatable sex dolls; and JIZZ underwear. These are not isolated instances. The government routinely registers pornographers’ marks: TEENSDOPORN.COM, MILFSDOPORN.COM, THUG PORN, GHETTO BOOTY, and BOUND GANGBANGS are but a few.
Other startling examples that would reflect government endorsement under the decision below include: SHANK THE B!T@H board game; CRACKA AZZ SKATEBOARDS; ANAL FANTASY COLLECTION, KLITORIS, and OMAZING SEX TOYS sex toys; HOT OCTOPUSS anti-premature ejaculation creams; OL GEEZER wines; EDIBLE CROTCHLESS GUMMY PANTIES lingerie; WTF WORK? online forum; MILF WEED bags; GRINGO STYLE SALSA; MAKE YOUR OWN DILDO; GRINGO BBQ; CONTEMPORARY NEGRO, F’D UP, WHITE TRASH REBEL, I LOVE VAGINA, WHITE GIRL WITH A BOOTY, PARTY WITH SLUTS, CRIPPLED OLD BIKER BASTARDS, DICK BALLS, and REDNECK ARMY apparel; OH! MY NAPPY HAIR shampoos; REFORMED WHORES and WHORES FROM HELL musical bands; LAUGHING MY VAGINA OFF entertainment; NAPPY ROOTS records; BOOTY CALL sex aids; BOYS ARE STUPID, THROW ROCKS AT THEM wallets; and DUMB BLONDE hair products. Word limits prevent us from listing more.
As noted at Deadspin, this approach probably makes sense legally. Doesn't make it not humorous, though.

Why wouldn't they just limit it to other accepted slurs? Like what does "twatty girl" have to do with "Redskins"?

I once did some part-time work for a small law firm in Austin. They didn't even have a spot for me to sit in their office, so I'd just take the office of whatever attorney was out that day. One day, the quietest, nicest, most conservative family man (but not a loudmouth family values Republican), was out of town at a hearing so I used his computer for the day. I remember typing in "www.s" to visit some site, it popped up a bunch of scat websites that he had visited. Couldn't bring myself to open one, but I did make sure to share my discovery with the rest of the non-attorney staff. I didn't work there much longer for some reason.
