Hot chicken is all the rage, and a Louisville based company just opened up a Lexington location: Joella's Hot Chicken. it is so so good. I would recommend it to anyone coming to Lexington or Louisville from northern climes.

They compare that sauce to Guthrie's. I've definitely have my fair share of Gut boxes. Sounds delicious.

So a sauce for people who find thousand island too healthy because of the veggies.

I think its good for bad food, but bad for food, if that makes sense. On par with Wendy's.

How did I not know about Vanderbilt Food Hall? I need to plan more trips into our NYC office. I was just there, and settled for the Grand Central dining concourse. D, are you working in the City now? If you are near Second Ave and 44th, you have to get a wood fire sandwich or pizza from Amish Market. I go there pretty much every time I am in my NY office.

The Federal Donuts (Philadelphia) chicken sandwich is definitely solid, but ... it's not what I'd want in a semi-regular version? American cheese + buttermilk dressing + pickles all worked but if you put that place next to Delaney, I'd go Delaney 4 times out of 5. Then I'd go to Federal for donuts because those were legit awesome.

Still haven't gotten here yet, but the sandwich at Delaney Chicken in Vanderbilt food hall is excellent. Only complaint would be the toppings/sauces were too haphazard.

Just had Delay's based on this post. So many great options there! Never would have gone with a chicken sandwich, but I've never had a chicken sandwich anywhere near that good. The batter on the chicken was so crunchy with a bit of heat to it. Totally agree with the haphazard arrangement of topics. Dude with the squirt bottles and the girl laying out the pickles/jalapenos didn't give a fuck. I just felt bad for the really classy looking Greek place next to Delaney's Huge line for chicken sandwich, while he served one customer every 5 minutes.

Yeah, I'm in the city. JERSEY City.

(Its somewhat odd to see NYC every day and be however wide the Hudson is away, but not have actually been there in several months. I need to try out the ferry to Hell's Kitchen some time to see if its worth it to grab growlers from Pony for the weekend. I'm guessing its not.)

1 August, apparently.

Also:

23 July in Australia
28 Sep in the UK for chocolate and vanilla, but NOT strawberry
20 June in the US for vanilla
26 July in the US for coffee
12 September in the US for chocolate

And Owl is next on my list for a green chile cheeseburger.

Iran has a National Pie Day (23 January) and a National Cheeseburger Day (27 October.) How are they not our ally?

eta: looking at the wiki page, damn we are so damned American.

(but I'm gonna hit National Corned Beef Hash day hard (27 September), but how is that not March 18th?)

Way back when before I was even a Swamplet, I had my first rueben somewhere. Fell in love with the sandwich. So shortly after my marriage, while my wife was still on 2nd shift, I decided that I would make a reuben at home. Remember this is before you could get the receipe for Guy Fieri's Mac Daddy Mac and Cheese by talking to a god-danged phone that would then magically produce said recipe. I knew it had rye bread, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, thousand island dressing and of course corned beef.

I did not, however, know that there is a difference between sliced deli corned beef and corned beef hash in a can. I was not thrilled with that particular dinner.

Pumpkin chili is fine as long as you don't put two cups of cinnamon-nutmeg-allspice-cloves and pretend that's the pumpkin flavor.

My favorite snack consists of:

- Sour cream and onion potato chips (I preferred Hostess or Humpty Dumpty, but I haven't seen them in years; Pringles or Lay's are fine)
- Part of a block of extra old (three years minimum) cheddar
- A kosher dill and/or sour pickled onions
- A pepperoni stick and/or a hard boiled egg with ketchup and salt on the side

I've been eating that combination for nearly 30 years now, and in spite of my wife's horror at it, it hasn't killed me yet. ;-)

Man, you ought to cut out the middle man and just put in a salt lick.

If I'm sprinkling salt on something in my kitchen, I always shake it out into my hand first, so that I can literally lick the excess off of my palm. I do have a bit of a problem with salt. :)

Do you try to eat them directly from the can? I always just dump them on a plate or in a bowl...

Fair enough. But it does make it much more convenient. :)

I always eat chips with a number of sides (vide supra), so it seems natural to me to use a plate...
