Liking/following new music. A lot of people I know think good music stopped being made whatever year they graduated high school or college.

2 things can be true:
1) killing people is bad; killing innocent people is shameful/a war crime.
2) from a technology standpoint it is pretty amazing.
When I first heard the story for some strange reason it reminded me of this:

Northwestern's temporary stadium is nicer than their old one. The lake view is a nice touch. For now. November will probably suck.

Sorry to hear these things Syb, SC and BFJ.
All four of my grandparents independently told me when I was around 18 years old that the worst part about aging wasn't getting old yourself...it's losing the people around you (they put it much more crudely). That has always stuck with me.

Seconding (thirding?) the hop tea. It’s what I drink when I want beer but don’t want beer. Whole Foods carries a few of the Hoplark core flavors but if you order off their website they have a ton of options.

Jack Russell (Great White singer, not dog); just a month after announcing retirement because of Lewy Body Dementia.
I actually liked their album Hooked (the one after Once Bitten Twice Shy)...takes me back to high school.

I enjoy Birmingham if you want to hit that up on the way. Downtown is meh but Sloss Furnace was an interesting (to me) blast furnace that has been turned into a museum/tour. If you're into breweries go to Cahaba for environment and TrimTab for flavor (both taste of the beer and local hangout spot).

A literal majority of people I know have gotten COVID while traveling this summer...especially those that went to Europe. My wife and I had it a few weeks ago...my only guesses as to where I got it are either my local kickboxing place or an outdoor Billy Joel concert.

On second thought...clarification might be needed...is the boat "open-air"...e.g. no sides with windows?
I'm not sure it changes my answer...but I could see if it was a totally enclosed boat being the same as an airplane.

How do you guys count being in a state? Because for me, it's either I spent a night there, or visited a major attraction. This is basically my rule...I define it as "stopping and doing something". For example, my wife gets to count Nebraska because we stopped outside of Omaha for lunch an...

The problem, as has been pointed out repeatedly, is that the GOP has not been operating on good faith for over 25 years now. I mean, you could go back to the race-baiting and dog whistles under Reagan and maybe even as far back as Nixon to try and figure out when it all started to sour over there. ...
