It's 4:15 in the East. A nasty storm woke me up, and the A's and Angels are still playing in Oakland. Bottom of the 18th. Longest A's game in history as of a few minutes ago.

According to imdb, Breakin came out in May 1984, and Breakin' 2 was released in December 1984. That would make it seven year old me, and how did they release the sequel only seven months later? The story and acting are so great, you could never tell it was made in one long weekend in early June.

(h/t Scottie) I can't remember. Anyone a google talk user? Here's the issue: My LadyFriend and I were IM'ing, using google talk, and all of a sudden, something came up in the box where she would type, that neither her or I wrote. Thanks, chedda. Another question, if you don't mind. Tsarnaev can be charged Federally on First Degree (or higher?) murder charges on the death of the MIT officer, though, can't he? As part and parcel of committing an act of terrorism, or some such language? Plus, didn't they seriously injure at le...

Well, if he wasn't the one who fired the shot that killed him, he may be able to get out (somewhat) of that one. Under Florida law, if he wasn't the one who pulled the trigger, but was involved in the felony that led to the officer's death (pretty certain that's the case), he can be charged with fe...

i hope they charge him for murdering his brother, too, since he ran him over. nice little cherry on top. I think that under the common law, the felony murder rule did apply to accomplices - even if an accomplice was shot by police during the felony. I don't know if this is still the case. If nothin...

I'm presuming he's not being charged with the death of the MIT officer at this time. Here's a question for lawyers et al. And I'm not a lawyer (although I would have made a particularly useful evil one; think about it) . . . My point is (merely) that the Miranda rights were suspended for a 48-hour period, as was permitted under Federal laws, and when that period elapsed, or neared being elapsed, his Miranda was distinctly read. That is to say, there was no shenanigans. The powers that be did exactly what they said they...

It's been a few years since I've been in a criminal courtroom, but I never heard Miranda rights in court, unless someone was being arrested right there, (not that often an occurrence). (Guilty) plea colloquys often involve a longer discussion of the rights that the defendant has, but there's some re...

I like it, but I still think the Pelican is an odd choice. Sure, it's a bird that eats fish, but it's not that fierce. I guess a Raven isn't that predatory either.
