Re: Television (no longer temporary)
The Boys was so good and I am so disappointed with the Amazon animated thing (Diabolical). Seth Rogan is involved. Not sure if that was good or bad. But the first episode was Looney tunes and the last is important for the story of Boys overall.
The HBO pirate thing is probably a loser but did watch the first 3 episodes while on my bike.

Watched the premier of Winning Time on HBO last night...I think it's pretty good. If you like Adam McKay stuff you'll like this.

I love McKay's style and voice but...was a little underwhelmed with the first episode. May need to give it a little bit to grow on me.GoodKarma wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 9:34 am Watched the premier of Winning Time on HBO last night...I think it's pretty good. I like his stuff too; for some reason I've had low expectations for this so that's probably why I liked it. I felt the same about Ballers when that was on.tennbengal wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 9:46 amI love McKay's style and voice but...was a little underwhelmed with the first episode. Decent pilot. Established the characters and premise with enough jokes to make it worth it. Will be checking out subsequent episodes and report back.

Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I was sleepy and beer buzzed on Sunday night and I think my viewing of the first episode of Our Flag Means Death and the first 1/3 or so of the first episode of Winning Time may have suffered for it. I watched the rest it the Winning Time episode today and really liked it. Reilly is fantastic.

We really liked it, though I thought the 2021 plot went ever so slightly off the rails the last episode or two. Melanie Lynskey won an award over the weekend for her performance on the show and that seems pretty deserved to me.

This is a spoof on ManU switching uniforms at halftime during a game in the 90's. Their 3rd kit was grey and blended into the crowd, players said they couldn't spot each other on the field so they switched blue at halftime.

I am…I agree on the uniqueness factor. I’m dying to see where it goes next and ends up. The challenge this past week was pretty cool. 2 person teams, making two dishes that look the same but taste totally different. Interesting idea.

Re: Television (no longer temporary)
That book blew me away. I read it more that 15 years ago and just recommended it to someone yesterday. Is the show going to focus on the murder only, or go into the history of the Mormonism as well? I was more interested in the historical aspect, but the murder makes a lot more sense as a min-series. Either way, I'll check it out.A_B wrote: Mon Mar 28, 2022 1:22 pm Kinda stoked about "Under the Banner of Heaven" that was previewed during the oscars. One of my favorite non fiction books.
