Wife and I tried to start S2 of The Witcher and even the recap had us fully confused/at a loss. I guess we have to rewatch S1. With so many great shows out right now, that has tumbled down our list.

Yeah, I finished up season 1 just a couple of weeks before season 2 came out. If you watched season 1 when it first came out it would have been about 2 years. And they either have a habit of letting the viewer figure shit out without banging you over the head with explanations or maybe expect the viewer to have some knowledge of shit from the games/books (as mentioned).

What I remember from the game is that its controls were hard as hell to master. I've played a LOT of games like it, but dang that one broke me.

Jumped into S2 of Witcher because I just wanted to watch cool monsters and boobs. Instead got a story that was hard to follow. Will probably rewatch though from the beginning.

Enjoyed Wheel of Time but thought the acting amongst the youngers to be pretty meh. Not really any characters to latch onto or care about (except maybe Rosumund's and some of her cohorts).

Wheel of Time is fine for what it is, but you definitely get the impression that a TON of exposition and backstory is getting jammed into the 8 episodes. I don't necessarily mind that, but it left me a little underwhelmed at times.

But, overall, I enjoyed it and will tune in when (if?) they roll out the next season.

I want to watch, but I'm not paying for another channel. Seriously you guys. I mean it! Comcast does an "every channel for free" week once or twice a year and I'll wait until that comes along and I'll try to binge it then.

Looks a lot like The Wild on Amazon, which was pretty good. (We had to make some decisions and Showtime has never made the cut for us.)

Shit, I gotta binge that channel now.! Started watching all the old episodes of The Inbetweeners. Any other Prime suggestions?

I've been watching the new Wonder Years and really like it -- great cast. Someone here said that it's worth watching anything with Dule Hill, and this show is more evidence for that. Then on a whim, I decided to watch the original 1988 pilot, and, wow, that may have been one of the greatest sitcom first episodes ever.

I'm also giving HIMYF a chance. Meh, so far, but don't want to quit it yet.

HIMYF seemed destined to be an absolute nightmare as soon as Milioti wasn't / declined to be cast.

Second (or third) this one. It was shot like the best big budget film in some great locations around the world. Story, acting and everything else about the show was great, too. I've been watching so much Netflix and HBO, I forgot about Prime.

I've been all over Prime, some thoughts... Keeping in mind, these are available on Prime right now, but might've popped up somewhere else first.

Couples Type Shit:
Fleabag
Catastrophe
Mozart in the Jungle

Cool Shit
Goliath (Billy Bob at his absolute best)
Tales from the Loop (this is a funky sci-fi type deal... I loved it, but it's... odd)
World's Toughest Race Eco Challenge (reality TV, just done pretty well IMO)
Homecoming (based on a podcast series.. well done, IMO)

Thriller/Action Shit
The Boys (can't recommend highly enough... get on it.)
Zerox3
Hannah
Jake Ryan (Tom Clancy... it is what it is)
The Man in the High Castle (I ran out of steam on this one, but S1 was tremendous)
The Expanse (though, you have a number of seasons to plow through)
The Wilds
Fortitude (Arctic shit... gets pretty wild)

Funny Shit
Red Oaks (Esp. S1)
Upload (Greg Daniels joint... cool concept)
Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (not my cup of tea, but VERY highly regarded)
Jean-Claude Van Johnson (waaaaay funnier than you think it's going to be.)

Re-reading this, with only a month, definitely scratch The Expanse. Way too much to get through.

If I only had 5 shows to pull:

The Boys (super hero, with a very loose definition of "hero")
Goliath (legal drama)
Fleabag (grimy hilarious... different)
Zero(3)
Upload (though, down at this level, it starts to get into what you're looking for... Jack Ryan and Hannah a very well done espionage/capers and not that many seasons to watch.. Catastrophe and Mozart are good if you're trying to hang with your lady. I'd steer clear of Man in the High Castle and Fortitude because they just kind of get too involved/weird after S1... The Wilds is only one season and it's pretty damn good.)

Yeah, I started in on the Expanse last summer and I just gave up on it. Maybe if there were 9 day weeks, and 14 month years, and we lived to 120 I’d have stuck with it.

While I am caught up on a few shows, when I am looking for something new, I often get weighed down by a full season commitment, so I just watch chopped instead.

So, in terms of answering the "time" question, the bulk of the shows I put on my list are not "new"... So, you know, you watch a 8-10 episode season over the course of two weeks or so... Pretty easy, really, when the list goes back 4 or more years.

I freely admit, we watch a lot of TV in this house. I'm digging our new pattern of not drinking during the week, because one of the patterns is just kind of plopping ourselves on the couch without really thinking about it and spending 3-4 hours with the TV. Problem is, we aren't retaining shit (not truly) after the 2nd hour, which leads to... not such a great overall viewing experience. :D

Another HUGE factor in all of this is not coaching soccer and/or dealing with my daughter's softball stuff. That would up 2 or 3 nights a week and entire weekends. And, thankfully, while I have to attend a few community meetings a year, and sometimes an emergency will pop up when I'm "on call," but generally my job doesn't bleed into the evening or weekend hours very often.

We watched the first episode of the new show "The Gilded Age" from the creators of "Downton Abbey".

I had a 'hate-watch' relationship with Downton...my GF really enjoyed it, and it was worth it for Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess and Carson the Butler's voice, but nothing ever really seemed to happen, and damn was Lady Mary a raging bitch.

Anyways...the new show: Woof....not good. Willing to give it a bit of a break since pilot episodes always have to do a ton of work with introducing characters and getting them into place, but it was just bad. And while the sets look incredible, they are lit really strangely.

Also...no matter what you think of Christine Baranski, she ain't no Maggie Smith.
