Re: 2016 NHL Offseason Thread
With all due respect, give me a fricking break. Subban is a better player than Weber. (Weber was crap in the playoffs against the Sharks.) He's cheaper than Weber. He doesn't have huge bonuses looming. He's four years younger than Weber. His deal is four years shorter than Weber. You can have the weak "good soldier" win. The Preds win this one hands down.
But, Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson? Holy shit. That's the most one-sided trade in recent memory! Hall is a great player. Larsson is potential.

I honestly can't tell if the tone is sarcasm or complete butt hurt.TheHumanComa wrote:Meh. Subban is an attention whore. Sure he donated 10 million dollars to a Children's Hospital here in Montreal but that was probably for tax reasons. Not that he didn't care about the children there, he visited all the time. But in the end, it was just about him being noticed.govmentchedda wrote:What an afternoon! Very pleasantly surprised that the Stamkos AAV is $8.5. Can't believe how one sided those other trades are.

I wonder if all the other GMs in the league are kicking themselves...We could have had Hall?
At least Bapo! will be psyched he'll be able to see him more.

Neither. I'm glad to be rid of him. i know he is an amazing player on the ice, but you guys don't understand how much he was a presence off the ice. He was everywhere in his dumb suits promoting himself. Fuck him and his dumb outfits. and his look at me attitude. Montreal is about the team, not the player. We don't need any spotlight whores here. so what we got a lesser defenseman that actually makes the canadian national teams while Subban doesn't. so what we got a captain of a national hockey league team in exchange for a glory hog. I don't want poison on my team. and pk is poison.BSF21 wrote:I honestly can't tell if the tone is sarcasm or complete butt hurt.TheHumanComa wrote:Meh. Subban is an attention whore. Sucks for Montreal, because you know this move will only make him mature faster. But if they kept him around, he would keep living his high profile life. He just watched the NBA finals live, then flew out to France for Euro 2016, going to Croatia tomorrow... just look at his instagram account and you'll see Nashville, I'm looking forward to a hipster free hockey season.
Re: 2016 NHL Offseason Thread
The link on the tweet below is a good read regarding the Taylor Hall trade. Also sez Milan Lucic expected to sign with the Oil on Friday - possibly a seven-year contract (!)

Seriously. That trade is awful for Montreal. Nearly as bad as the Hall trade is for Edmonton.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.
Re: 2016 NHL Offseason Thread
No, it's worse, by a lot, because of the contract. And the Hall deal might have been the worse I've seen before that.
This is a legit contender for the worst three sentence string in (thinks about it) three(?) years.TheHumanComa wrote:He did everything required of him when it came to team publicity, practices and games. Re: 2016 NHL Offseason Thread
So it was really all about character and definitely not some other unique-to-Subban factor in Montreal. This is made much more believable today with their signing of Alexander Goddamn Radulov.

Love it. I couldn't stand him when he was in VAN but he's funny as shit.mister d wrote: A lot funnier if you know whose account it is.

I feel the same way for the Sharks. Some of these long-term deals sure look like millstones around their necks down the road. Six years for Ericsson? Seven for Lucic and Ladd?mister d wrote:This is so much fun as long as NYR stay out.

Brouwer to Flames 4x4.5
It's not bad I guess.
I've always hated free agency day, totally destroys hockey.

Frans Nielsen to the Wings - six years
Eric Staal to the Wild
Tom Gilbert to the Kings
Degen, I think Brouwer will be a good addition for the Flames!

The Pens aren't doing shit*, and that's just fine!
(*they gave GMJR an extension, which 6 months ago (certainly 7, before the Daley/Scuderi trade) might have be WTF'd, but now whatever)

It will be interesting to see how Okposo does without Tavares there setting him up. (Matt Moulson, anyone?)Sabo wrote:Okposo to Buffalo for seven years.

Why is that guy so over-valued? First at the trade deadline earlier this year, and again, now.mister d wrote:Three Canadian teams chasing Kris Russell proves that everything, including learning your lesson on signing possession sieves to massive contracts, comes late to Canada.

Then you must love the Senators. They are actually planning to do nothing. The GM has said he "likes this team". Finished eight points back of the last playoff spot and they're standing pat. Smart. Unless of course Dion Phaneuf is worth ten points all by himself.degenerasian wrote:Teams go crazy today, i dont know why. It's everything that is wrong with the NHL.
The Black Knights cannot get here fast enough.

So damn excited about the Hedman signing. I like the bridge deal for Vasy too. Let's get 86 done fast, and not lose another game for 5 years.

Free agency happening in one day giving players the most money possible is crazy.
