May be a good brawl in the Braves/Nats game tonight. Bryce Harper showboated a bit after a homer last weekend in Washington, and was subsequently plunked. Dugouts emptied, but no real fireworks.
Last night in Atlanta, Braves pitchers hit him twice, and almost a third time. J. Upton hit a walkoff in the 10th to end it. Ray Knight on the Nats broadcast was openly calling for Nats pitchers to plunk Upton today.

Watching now. That Avilan pitch was ridiculous, and then they cheered it.

If they don't, they suck. Well, they suck anyway, but you get my meaning.
well this is gonna be someone's new signature - bronto
If I'm remembering it right, the pitch he hit wasn't a "bad" pitch. It was outer third, maybe even almost out of the strike zone. The problem with Cabrera is that he can hit just about any kind of pitch anywhere.
Middle plate just below belt high? Somewhere around there? (Great timing in the switch room to get one of the Royals spitting.) And over the opposite field fence? Yowsa.
Don't wanna jinx anyone but . . . y'know? The Dodgers and Tigers have never once met in post-season play.
Don't know if anyone cares or is impacted by this - but if you are a Sirius/XM subscriber, I just received an email saying that they are making all MLB games available free for the next week, for all packages.

They just show that even a change of leagues isn't a solution to having a lousy farm system and trading away your best prospects while hoping for the future.
They're rebuilding the right way in my opinion. At least they're being honest with their fans about what they're doing. Compare that with the Phillies for example who are basically fucked for the rest of the decade most likely.
Trouble with the Astros is they've stripped their farm system of the better players and what's left ain't much. The Phillies have a shot of .500 by the end of the season. Astros, maybe by 2018.

You obviously haven't been following the Astros farm system the last couple years. They have already made tremendous strides and are now at least top-10 by most accounts, I've seen it ranked top 5 even. Only the Giants system has a better winning % this season, their top MLB-ready prospect is sporting 36 HRs and 39 SB in AA/AAA this season, and had five prospects on Baseball America's midseason prospect update. They have stocked their farm system the last two drafts and will have one more where they have the top pick in every single round. There is no way they're five years away from .500.

And even if the Phillies make it to .500 this season, whoop-de-freaking-do. They'll still be 12 games out of a playoff spot with little to no chance of contending in the NL East for the better part of the rest of the decade. I'd much rather be an Astros fan than a Phillies fan at this point.
Halos are probably more f'd than the Phillies. They have absolutely nothing in the minors, with an old and expensive 25-man roster. Thankfully they also have the best player in baseball.
My only fear of death is coming back to this b1tch reincarnated
Matt Harvey became the 1st pitcher to give up 2 or less runs and 13 or more hits and lose in 50+ years. And of course the last guy to do it (in 1962) was also a Met.
Considering how cheap his contract is, I'm kinda shocked Byrd cleared waivers. Seems like someone would have claimed him if only to block him going to a competing team.

It really does not make any sense that the Reds let it happen.
Unless it's deeper than we think and they wanted to Bucs to move a prospect. Jedi shizz!
