To me, one of the endearing qualities of English soccer is that teams in towns the size of Burnley (73k) can qualify for the Premiership.
Aside from the anomaly of Green Bay, that sort of thing couldn't happen in major US sports leagues.

Fucking nuts. That was a very entertaining game, even if evil triumphed over good.

Fuck, forgot there were games today. Of all the games I miss, it's a 5-0 Arsenal win, when I really need a game like that.

David De Gea is a joy to watch. He is "standing on his head" against Arsenal.

Spurs are in a deep, deep rut. Problem is that two of the main reasons are mainstays of the team - Ericksen and Alli are playing like shit. And every time I see Davies starting instead of Rose, it makes the bile rise in my throat.

I watched some of that game and I get he saved 14 but I didn't see the brilliance. USA has to have the best goalie at all times. Low bar there.

3 parts Curtis Stone + 1 part Ryan Gosling = A very good goalscorer.

Fraser Forster played like he was hungover.
Spurs are badly missing Victor Wanyama this season. If you watch the team regularly, it is clear that he was the midfield anchor last year - Winks and Dembele are just not in the same class.

So when I said to my Spurs fan friend "you could really use Fernandinho" I was actually kinda close to right? #soccerexpert

VVD to Liverpool makes me sad in that he’s the first potential transfer I’d really heard of and followed the process on. This is like the worst day of the season!

Yes.
Spurs three best players last season were Kane (of course), Alderweireld and Wanyama. Alli was great, but the other three were the keys to the season.

Sickening game. Watching Spurs flail around the penalty area reminded me of my frustrations when coaching my daughter's house league teams. Great to have Wanyama back, but when the late game subs for offense are Llorente and Lamela... well let's just say I am not confident of a return to Champions League.

Having the 'Festive Fixtures' on every afternoon has been the lifeline for me this week. My parents (and my sister) can't quite believe I've turned into a soccer fan.

Saw a Wegner out on coverage of the Terps-Iowa hoops game last night.
Also getting a chuckle from Lichaj's post game presser. Apparently his wife said he gets a dog if he scores a hat trick. So he stepped up to take the penalty and was basically told to go away. So now all of the Forrest fans are blowing up his wife's twitter with pictures of dogs and posts saying to get him a dog.
