This is the correct answer.
I'm somewhat ashamed to admit it, but I really like Mariah's "All I want for Christmas" as well.

It’s certainly ubiquitous. And on right now at this brewery.

Who or what is Parson Brown and why would you pretend that’s who/what your snowman is?
Edit: Nevermind, figured it out.

Speaking of, we got a video from my youngest's daycare where they were playing some Thanksgiving turkey rap and it was a perfect reenactment of this scene minus the twins. All the kids were dancing, but none the same and none really together.sancarlos wrote: Sun Dec 17, 2017 1:29 pm Hat tip to DaveinSeattle for posting it on Facebook. Super awesome!

UPDATE: I made figgy pudding this weekend. It was good.A_B wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2017 11:37 amHow have you not heard that? That's one of my favorites. I break it out all the time.Jerloma wrote:I head the trippiest version of We Wish You a Merry Christmas on the radio this morning. In the middle of the song, it starts going...

We won't go until we get some

We have a fig tree. My wife makes fig jam (with grand marnier!). Is that the same as figgy pudding?
Figs are delicious!

No, figgy pudding is like a bread pudding. Basically a super moist cake.sancarlos wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2019 10:41 am We have a fig tree. My wife makes fig jam (with grand marnier!). Is that the same as figgy pudding?

This was my recipe. Figs, dates, and chocolate.
Although if you were to use that recipe, halve the sauce recipe. We have sauce for days.

Re: The Swamp's Favorite Christmas Song
Look, I think with some prodding I would know who Al Martino was as an actor because of that one role. But I swear to fucking god none of his Christmas songs have ever made an impression on me and all of a sudden they’re all over SXM’s main traditional holiday music station this year. AND…
They’ve been playing some sort of “best male vocalist who sings Christmas songs” countdown and I only caught a bit over the weekend but it had Wayne Newton at 4 and then Martino at 3 which means at least one of Sinatra/Bing/Cole was behind Al Martino? Al Martino???

My dad introduced me to someone who I think was Al Martino on the beach in Atlantic City in front of the then-Playboy Casino about 40 years ago.

I have a fig tree. Will try that jam. Planted during covid and it's pretty huge already. Unfortunately no figs yet. Someone said all southerners need a muscadine vine, a pecan tree and a fig tree. They are absolutely correct.A_B wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2019 11:18 amNo, figgy pudding is like a bread pudding. Basically a super moist cake.sancarlos wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2019 10:41 am We have a fig tree. All bad. All sound like perverts.
This is why southern food is infinitely better than the rest of US regional food. Figs and pecans are top tier.HaulCitgo wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 11:33 amI have a fig tree. Will try that jam. Re: The Swamp's Favorite Christmas Song
My mother constantly plays the Sinatra channel on SXM, which of course is 95% crooners. Not my thing at all, but, damn those guys have perfect pitch and always stay on key. So, even though I'd never play that station of my own choice, I certainly appreciate their talent.
Funny thing - my mother seems to know the words to all the songs. I would never have guessed this and didn't know it until last year. She never seemed like much of a music fan as I was growing up, but of course her music wasn't on our radio stations very much. She sings along all the time. Amazing. (She has a decent voice for an 83 year-old.) This station is a godsend for her.

Re: The Swamp's Favorite Christmas Song
My mom says she knows all the songs from the 30/40s (she's 88) because her mom would put on the radio (while she sewed) after my mom and her siblings had gone to bed.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Re: The Swamp's Favorite Christmas Song
My Mom is tone deaf and it would be a challenge to change the station before she realized it was Garth Brooks "The Dance".

I’ve never heard a bad version of “This Christmas”.

Re: The Swamp's Favorite Christmas Song
Same cannot be said for Last Christmas unfortunately.

Re: The Swamp's Favorite Christmas Song
I think because “Last Christmas” is still rightly associated with Wham! and not yet a regular rotation, while “This Christmas” has become one. I mean sure, there might be a cover by Pentatonix or some shit, but you can’t hold that against the song.

Re: The Swamp's Favorite Christmas Song
I know what you mean but it kind of is that now though. It's weird because we were teenagers when it came out but we're like 50 now. That's like people then being teenagers when White Christmas was recorded (probably). Everyone's recording it lately though. Young Millennials and Zoomers love it because it doesn't remind them of how old they are I think.

Of all of the things that I like in this world that I get irrationally angry over other people not liking the thing, and there are so many...this is probably the top of the list.

Getting to the point where Mariah Carey will not only have the last great original Christmas song but will also be the only living artist responsible for a great original Christmas song.

A tie or maybe 1a with Fairytale and 1b the Bing/Bowie mashup. Don't know why that one gets me in the feels, but can't deny it does.
