NHL autodraft league.
Hey guys, no time to set it up. can someone else set it up? yahoo style. i'm working day and night these days. auto draft with whatever scoring you think is reasonable. nothing crazy. i made it too detailed last year.
Re: NHL autodraft league.
Sure thing, THC. I'll put it together over the weekend. Unless I'm out on-site working (probably won't happen but it has been known to on weekends unpredictably) then I'll go begging to degen or Trav or one of the other usual suspects. If it gets set up over the weekend then the lads will have a week or so to get in before the season starts.

Re: NHL autodraft league.
You guys want to explain to an old guy what the fuck this is?
Does Autodraft mean you get a team assigned to you, so that even if you don't know shit about the NHL beyond one team, you might be okay?

Autodraft means that players are assigned to teams automatically. There is no (often lengthy) draft that participants have to conduct; often very difficult to organize. Instead, some algorithm or other hands out the players based on a type of power ranking of all players by all positions. I believe you can "set up" your desired picks beforehand (to a degree).
I like autodraft. You get the cards you are played, as it were, and then the challenge is to make decent moves throughout the season.
Do please sign up! Yes, you'll be okay. Nobody ends up stuck with the bottom 5% of NHL talent. You'll have a very solid mix.

Also, it is head-to-head, week-by-week. So if there are ten teams you play them all twice (or so). For one week, usually ending Sunday, it's your guys and their totals (goals, assists, shots, PIMs, etc) against another's. You get wins and losses in each category and it all adds up in the standings. It's a nice system. You can also make four or so player moves per week; adding guys, dropping guys, trading guys, whatever you like.

Re: NHL autodraft league.
I'm happy to sign up, as long as I'm not taking up someone else's spot. I have a feeling that I won't be very active when it comes to managing my team, and I'd hate to drag down the league by being that guy.Scottie wrote:Autodraft means that players are assigned to teams automatically. You won't be taking anyone's spot. We still need another 6 or 7 participants.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. I don't like ESPN's fantasy games.

Re: NHL autodraft league.
I appreciate being invited by name, Scottie, but just can't do it. Going to be very hectic next few months starting with the move a week from Friday, then what looks like a very busy winter and spring of work (but a couple cool projects, at least).

I'd like to do it, but i'm already in two other leagues (oiler's league and another that one of my local California friends runs.)

Still need to fill a few slots or TSN/ESPN will auto-scrap the league.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Re: NHL autodraft league.
No, it's not too late. At least I don't think it is. Weird thing about those leagues is, this year, they changed the ownership tools somewhat. In a nutshell, whoever set up the league, the commissioner, can't go in and edit the settings any more. If you look at the settings page you see static settings. And you'd think that a league manager/commish could change them before the season starts. Like changing the draft date or whatever. But that can't be done. Anyone visiting that page (above) sees the same thing I see; a list of settings that cannot be edited. Frustrating!

Re: NHL autodraft league.
You should be able to. I commish a number of football leagues as well as a baseball and I've been able to change whatever settings I'd like.

Re: NHL autodraft league.
Should, yes. But can't. For instance, here is the draft page (below). Nowhere on there is a link to edit the draft date. There is also no apparent way to edit the number of teams or, well, anything.

Re: NHL autodraft league.
hey Scottie, i think the only reason it didn't happen was because we didn't have a complete league, I'm sure if we filled up the spots now, it would complete itself, or it could be too late. But the draft doesn't happen if our league isn't full.
Only way to find out is if five more teams join right>? might have to rearrange my draft order to be Shark heavy though.

Re: NHL autodraft league.
That may well the be reason. The commissioner's link never showed up. I thought it was going to default to whoever started the league and then it can (if wished) be passed on to someone else in the league. The commish doesn't really have to do anything once the league starts, right? I tried and tried but never did find anything that would let me edit the league settings, draft date, etc.
I don't even know if it is possible to start anew?

Re: NHL autodraft league.
I did it on yahoo the last few years, i believe, can't remember. but i know it wasn't espn. If a few swampers can help us out we can find out if it will create a league, how many people are we missing?Scottie wrote:That may well the be reason. The commissioner's link never showed up.
