i finally gpt around to watching the town hall clip with batshit crazy dana loesch. as you all know, I own several weapons, many of the types that are being discussed now. If it would give people peace of mind, whether it worked or not, and they wanted to put together a legitimate buyback and destroy program for these types of weapons I would be fully on support of that. It would have to be a buyback though because it would be a significant loss of money t me if they were just seized and destroyed, but I cant wrap myself in the second amendment on this. I dont need semi automatic assault rifles. They are fun as shit and I enjoy shooting them, but at the end of the day that doesnt really outweigh the publics interest in not being shot up. Im willing to let this one go if its approached in a thoughtful well planned way and I think most of the people I know who are gun owners would concede this point.

Exactly. They are fun to shoot, but the public good outweighs the individual. It has to be buy back. All I own is a shotgun, and that won't be on a list, but I'd happily trade it in for them all to be gone.TT2.0 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 11, 2018 4:25 am i finally gpt around to watching the town hall clip with batshit crazy dana loesch. as you all know, I own several weapons, many of the types that are being discussed now. If the government buys back all of the guns, then they'll just use them to subjugate us all into slavery. How we supposed to fight back against our own armed forces without huge weapons?

We lost the war to fight the government around the time tanks were invented. i realize that was sarcasm but people around here believe it. in some ways livimg in Texas is like living in a bubble soaked in light beer. If i had a dollar for every time i heard our 44th president called the N word in public and casual conversation I could personally finance the buyback. Personally I also am sick of the idiots claiming Texas should exercise our legal right to secede. Ive thought a lot about how hard Dave jumped on me for making fun of safe space kids and accusing me of spouting right wing propoganda. Honestly I dont even know myself anymore. I find a lot of my internal beliefs lining up with right wing talking points. I do think kids these days are pussies. I just do. Mumble rap, skinny jeans, safe spaces, dabbing, instagram...Jesus Christ as far as Im concerned that entire generation can go fuck itself. Also in my heart of hearts I dont give two fucks about bathroom bills, or trans rights, or trans phobia, or any of it. im not trans and dont give a shit if you are or arent...or your struggle...or that you get angry when i use the wrong pronoun. maybe being older has made me less tolerant, caring, and open minded. im mot sure 18 year old me would like 32 year old me. I used to be very liberal. i used to argue politics, stay informed. im not sure if there even is a point to this paragraph except to say to Dave in particular Im sorry for how I came off, and Im going to try to be less flip and more thoughtful in the things I say. To your second sentence "You are better than this". i guess my response is, Im not sure I am anymore and Im kinda sad about it. I have turned into the people I used to despise

i finally read the article that mwntioned Q...hey TennBengal, it very casually mentioned that all the kids who "protested"? not sure of the phrase I should use but anyway, all of tge kids are getting Saturday detentiom. Considering the subject matter, and the support youve shown to his cause, are you as a parent considering telling him to skip the detention and tell the school to consume a massive bag of dicks? Punishing my kid for doing the right thing seems shitty. Obviously I know fuckall about parentimg but youve got an obviously motivated kid fighting for something he believes in, and he did it in a way that makes you proud....shouldnt you go fight for him to protect him from taking the hit on this? Please understand im not criticizing, just interested in your thought process. Also please understand in earlier posts I was speaking in generalities about kids these days, and in my head I have always seperated out kids of people I know from strangers kids, but I get thats not how I came off, so I sincerely apologize if the shit I said offended or hurt you, I was not trying to attack Q or what he was doing and Im sorry i was a douche and that it looked like I was.

This is the main issue. It's the fringes on the both sides that get the attention. I'm sure there are many conservative speakers on many college campuses right now but it's the one that is getting shouted down that makes the news.

Except the fringes are controlling the government. When CNN or MSNBC argue against Conservative or Republican beliefs, they are discussing actual quotes from the President, Republican Congressmen or the actual laws passed, and they are usually interviewing Trump Administration members, or former Trump Admin/Campaign staffers. The entire premise of shows like Hannity, Tucker Carlson and "journalism" like Breitbart is concocting insane arguments that "Liberals believe [insert insane idea nobody believes], all Liberals are stupid and hate America and want to destroy your life and steal your freedoms." The rare time Hannity has a "Liberal" on his show, it's a certifiably insane lunatic who never served in office or worked for any Democrat organization. At best, he will get a disgraced teacher from a 300 student college nobody ever heard of, who was fired for spouting whatever LW nutter idea they have. Carlson will debate idiotic college students, corner them into twisted versions of the already stupid thing they believe, cut their mic and say "this is how stupid Liberals are. Liberalism is a mental disorder and dangerous."degenerasian wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 2:51 pmThe Sybian wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 2:34 pmWell said, TT. Re: The Mass Shootings Thread
Yesterday, we got a notification from the school district that there had been some rumors of a threat for today with the planned protests, including at our local high school. School officials contacted the local authorities who determined there was no viable threat and the rumors had been circulated and grown through social media usage by the student body. (We had previously been sent info about planned protests - kids could be punished for leaving class with a lot of discretion to be used by school staff, there would be police on campus during the protest time, indoor space would be available in event of inclement weather, etc.)
Today, school was cancelled due to inclement weather. While we are supposed to get up to five inches of snow today, roads were clear and schools have been kept open in much worse conditions (and schools have been closed in expectation of bad weather than didn't quite pan out as forecasted).
The latter just makes me wonder about the former.

I just don't know if the cancellation of school was a "better safe than sorry" cover or not. A few other schools in the area cancelled classes today with many others dismissing early or cancelling evening activities. The snow briefly picked up around 2pm, but eased up shortly after. My daughter would normally be getting off the bus about now and hindsight says they should not have cancelled school for the weather.

So, Dylan Roof's sister...
linkRICHLAND COUNTY, SC
The younger sister of Dylann Roof, who murdered nine black parishioners during bible study at a Charleston church, was arrested and charged Wednesday for possessing drugs and weapons on school grounds... Morgan Roof had also made a social media post on Snapchat which caused alarm to the student body. In it, Morgan Roof said she hoped the students participating in the National Walkout Day protesting gun violence would "get shot."...
Based on what Morgan Roof posted online, she disagreed with the walkout. What struck a nerve was her comment that "we know it's fixing to be nothing but black people walkin out anyway."
After her brother murdered nine black people at a church he purposely selected because of it's black parishioners, he told FBI agents he was hoping to start a race war.

On that "gun safety" class.
Why are rounds in the same room as a firearm when you aren't at a range?
That's not safe.
For my Arizona conceal carry class, we didn't get ammo until we set up our targets at the lane in the range.
Prior to that was roughly 5 hours of handling unloaded weapons, laws, and situations.
For my goddamn predeployment training, we had an m4 and m9 for two weeks and only received rounds when we were firing at targets.
So why the fuck, in an enclosed environment like a classroom, was his weapon not cleared (preferably with a clearing barrel) before teaching a class?
Edit.
Shit, this just clicked. Had I remained in Salinas through my high school years, I could've attended that high school.
