Fuck, nobody told me they had another game. Oh well, it was fun caring about the tournament for a minute. How bad was Buffalo?

They played well just didn’t have their legs insecond half. Our size disrupted a lot of shots. Very good team.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

One of the most annoying games I've ever sat through. Amazing finish. Survive and advance, but geez louise.

The bet: North Carolina, Purdue and ... Virginia.

Also, Xavier getting bounced early was so predictable. They had a good W/L record, based on unsustainable close game luck. But Villanova also ran them off the floor twice, so it was pretty clear Xavier was not #1 seed material. Other than Villanova, who is obviously a legit contender, I don’t think the Big East was good enough this year to warrant Xavier’s rank or seed.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 19, 2018 10:16 amDoes Mick Cronin know he can recruit players who can score?tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Mar 18, 2018 10:25 pm This tournament is dumb. Those are Ken Pomeroy's adjusted offense ratings for Cincinnati each year under Cronin. Average is 92.6.

Those are Syracuse's (average 45, even being down a couple scholarships the last few years). But, I guess our gimmick defense is enough to carry a mediocre offense when needed.
And my mockery of Cronin's offensive awareness isn't new.

And for the record, I think the thread to check in on Shirley after Friday night's loss by Virginia was lame. I don't remember all the threads to check on brian when the Lions went 0-16... or for AB and Sabo when the Browns did the same.

(As someone with a very parochial interest in this part of the bracket, part of the reason MI fans were happy to be shipped out west was the reality that Xavier was the softest #1 seed. The fact that UNC got knocked off last night is a pretty remarkable turn of events. Not that folks should be cocky, because the Wolverines have played two pretty shitty games (offensively) to this point.)

Re: 2018 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
Besides, isn’t half of Cincinnati happy when UC loses and the other half happy when Xavier loses?

we're comparing a one and done loss by a top team in a 64-team tournament to a terrible football team losing 16 times?

Re: 2018 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
I was going for "groundbreaking sports failure that will live on forever", but I doubt there is any accurate comparison to merit Swamp sympathy, as usually the really good teams are not in positions to have that happen because almost every other competition requires "being a very good team" to be in the competition.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Mon Mar 19, 2018 5:06 pmDSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 19, 2018 3:13 pm And for the record, I think the thread to check in on Shirley after Friday night's loss by Virginia was lame. In any case, it's just a fucking game and not something with "real life" consequences for him, like losing his job.

Is he not right though? Maybe I'm just used to a lifetime's worth of dumb jokes about the Lions, but it is just a game and if you can't suck it up during the bad times, especially the REALLY bad times, then you don't deserve to celebrate during the good times.
