Re: Commercials
Perhaps when the history of the decline and fall of our western civilization is written, that ad could be used as a touchstone, a symbol, of so many things that were wrong with our society.
Nothing is sacred. Everything is just fodder for increasing revenues.

Based on the current set of commercials (and the ones from a couple of years ago), Jan is apparently DTF.Bensell wrote: ↑Mon Jan 12, 2015 1:21 pmI think I may have put this in the confessions thread but I had a sex dream about Jan from the Toyota commercials, so I guess my rankings on likability/doability order would beShirley wrote:I don't know about a fight, but ranking them on likability, I'd have to go:
Flo
Wendy
Toyota girl
Lily
There's a gap between 2 and 3 and a big gap before 4.
The doable scale might just be reversed (but Lily would have to shut the fuck up).
Toyota girl
Lily
Wendy
Flo
but the last 2 are so far up on my hating scale it's not even close.

That is so weird, and brilliant. I'm usually just fascinated and shocked by Japanese culture, but this I legit loved.

Do y'all think Mr. Stevens flakes on giving the testimony altogether, or does he just forego the witness protection program?
Re: Commercials
I'm guessing the latter. If he's too fucking dumb to come back with "how about you give me an Audi and I'll talk" when they'll obviously just say "yeah sure, we don't fucking care" he's probably dumb enough to think he can outrun the mob.

Seems weird that the new pitchman for Arby’s is the voice of Bob’s Burgers.
That said, I like H. Jon Benjamin in both Bob’s Burgers and Archer, so I’m happy to see him in these ads.

Re: Commercials
Just discovered this guy today. He has a bunch of these and they're all (well, the three I've seen) great.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: Commercials
That's great. I hate the premise that we are supposed to believe these people because they are "not actors". As if they don't see the camera filming them and know that if they say the right thing they could be in a commercial.

Someone in the comments also mentioned that the funniest thing might be the idea of a solar power company in Cleveland.

Great!
I'd imagine that in the hierarchy of sports celebrity endorsers, Cleveland Browns punter must be pretty close to the bottom.

Saw during most recent VGK game Pierre-Edouard Bellemare do a horrible local commercial for a local cancer clinic and Vegas finally felt like a real big-league sports city.

Elton John one is pretty good. Unless it wasn’t selling Elton John, it which case it was affecting but not effective.

Those British retail chains traditionally go nuts on their holiday ads.
I usually hate sentiment, but that ad got me goose bumpy all three times I watched it.

Again it was selling the Elton John movie coming out next year right?

Re: Commercials
The commercial wasn’t enough, but AB’s insistence finally made me look up John Lewis and Partners. It’s a department store.

Funny thing. The vast majority of Black Friday commercials I’ve seen so far are for cars and trucks.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:59 pm the guy who buys the GMC SUV and truck for his wife and himself for Xmas and the wife wants the truck that he bought for himself commercial is sooooo believable

When I was visiting my parents' home over the holidays, I borrowed my father's electric shaver and used his Old Spice aftershave. That company acknowledged that the product has been around forever with a cheeky tag line on the back of the packaging:
If your grandfather hadn't used it, you wouldn't exist.
I lol'd.

This GMC tailgate commercial was ok the first. The following 40 I was like "No. Regular tailgates are staying. A tailgate is not a reason to but a truck."

Re: Commercials
So, Bud Light's thrust in these medieval-themed ads seems to be, "if you like craft beer, then you're a foppish twit."
That may play well with the core audience they already have, but I can't see how it helps them gain any new customers.

Hate those ads.
You know, some craft brewer (that can afford advertising) should come up with a campaign pointing out that Bud is made by a Belgian/Brazilian company.

Eh. Most of it still made here I think. Pretty domestic despite international owners.
