There's plenty of blame to go around, but that polling doesn't include people who stayed home for whatever reason and didn't vote at all. So that's the "left" I'm referring to at least. Anyone, for whatever reason, that didn't vote with the express purpose of keeping a known racist, misogynistic... I'm done typing it all out. The guy was a known commodity for anyone that did the barest minimum of looking into his past. They all own it.
The whole progressive vs. establishment thing is so fucking stupid right now. I'm just sick of all of this bullshit. Vote the GOP out of office, that's it. That's all anyone should be focused on.
Mind you, this is coming from a guy that worked for a political organization that was all about splitting Democratic policy hairs for over 5 years (total.) Looking back, first off, a lot of that shit was just wrong-headed (centrist policies), but coming from a relatively good place. But what's really stunning is that we were going up against Heritage and Cato and Brookings, having these high minded debates about health care, trade, etc.
We had no idea how useless all of that shit was. That it was all going to be torched by a bunch of thugs and racists, stuffing their bags of money watching the whole thing burn down, laughing at the libtards who think any of the policy debates matter.
Wake the fuck up, people.

In 2015, I never would have imagined a scenario where I voted for Hillary and felt good about it. If Kasich or a more sane/moderate Republican had won, I would have voted for Hillary and felt shitty about it, but when it was down to Trump and Cruz, the ickiness disappeared. Probably helped that Jill Stein and Gary Johnson are arguably as dumb and lacking in knowledge of political affairs as Trump.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 3:00 pmWhat-the-fuck-ever. Tangentally, I'm just back from a meeting with a company that is working with Asian producers to produce shows that will have a primary audience in Asia.

The upside of getting asked to leave a restaurant (and having your cheese plate on the house) is that afterwards you'll get assigned Secret Service protection.

Thought these guys loved the Constitution.
In other news - from a Washington Post piece about the protesters outside the Red Hen restaurant (no point reading the whole piece, it's entirely predictable).

So, I'm gathering that the news crews were there even before two guys showed up to wave their flags. Ridiculous.Protesters began showing up around 3.
At first, it was just two guys holding Trump banners, a Confederate flag and a Corey Stewart for U.S. Senate sign. Standing in a steady rain, mobbed by three or four TV crews who had been stationed across from the darkened restaurant since morning, the pair said they were there to call for civility.

Re: The Indictment Thread (Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part II)
They like a few parts of the Constitution.
They want free speech for them alone, right for white people to bear arms, and they don't want to quarter any damn British soldiers. Oh and states to have powers not granted to the Federal gov except for bad things like drugs and immigrants and things like that. But only red states, really.
The rest, about free presses and cruel and unusual punishment and jury trials and rights for brown people to bear arms (every time I see comments on a police shooting referencing a gun being found in the vehicle I overdose on cognitive dissonance), those ones can fuck off.
Hardline Republicans are the least Constitutional people in the entire damn country and they are the ones always bringing the damn thing up.

Yeah, and what moves has the master dealmaker left himself? He's spent so much time sucking his own dick about the "success" of the summit, he has no stick to wield at the North Koreans, only carrots. So they can essentially do whatever they want without worrying about being critical of them because if he is then his big foreign diplomacy "win" is a sham.Pruitt wrote: ↑Wed Jun 27, 2018 12:48 pm The Master Dealmaker knows how to diplomatize!

Gonna be working with my company in the next few months to see the possibility of becoming a contractor and switching to "part-time" (really probably close to 40 hours a week still) so as not to violate American tax laws related to foreign income. If I can work out a way where I'm still able to do some work from another country for my company legally and I'm able to obtain a permanent resident visa from another country then we're out of here.

I've talked seriously with my wife about moving up to Canada, too. Since both my parents were born and raised Canadian, and because I have relatives up there, it might grease the wheels for me. With my daughter going to university in Seattle, Vancouver looks appealing (although it is pretty damned expensive.)

Re: The Indictment Thread (Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part II)
That’s the thing. Overruling Roe v. Wade wouldn’t impose any real burden on rich people who want abortions because they could just spend the money to go to the nearest blue state where abortion remained available. It would, however, place a tremendous burden on poor and lower-middle class women for whom such travel is not economically feasible. But since when has the GOP cares about imposing hardships on the poor? Money is the same thing as success and If they were deserving of it they’d already be rich, right?
