Re: Wither Colin Kaepernick
The thing that bugs me is that when Kaepernick was actually kneeling (2016 pre-season) nobody cared. He was released by the 49ers after that season and the story went away for nearly a year. Then Trump won the election and then that night in Alabama he called black NFLers who were kneeling sons of bitches. That was so stupid. Who was kneeling? Nobody. They had all abandoned Kaepernick.
Now everyone is just latching on. Where were they during the 2016 pre-season? He's the true hero because he knelt first and actually stood for something.

Well, people did care. They were selling t-shirts with his head in the crosshairs at Ralph Wilson Stadium when he got his first start.

Re: Wither Colin Kaepernick
Yeah, not sure where you were during all that because people cared a great deal. Also I wouldn't say the story went away considering one of the biggest daily stories during the 2017 offseason was who was going to sign Kaepernick (which of course turned out to be nobody).degenerasian wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 4:32 pm The thing that bugs me is that when Kaepernick was actually kneeling (2016 pre-season) nobody cared. Real comments I overheard while Mrs. Sabo and I were eating out tonight:
Nike must want to go out of business by doing that ad campaign with that black guy.
Nike must be owned by some anti-American country.
Care to guess the speaker's age and skin color?I don't understand what Nike is doing. They don't seem to care about mainstream America.

Media maybe but no players knelt until Trump triggered it in Week 4? It became a different cause than what originally Kaepernick intended.brian wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 5:11 pmYeah, not sure where you were during all that because people cared a great deal. It was still anti-racist even at that point which would have been more clear if the media weren’t afraid to admit Trump is a racist.

Re: Wither Colin Kaepernick
Kaepernick's commercial is a big hit with consumers.
• Ace Metrix polled consumers on how Kaepernick’s signing would impact their plans to spend money with Nike. Thirteen percent of those surveyed said they were less likely to purchase from Nike after viewing Kaepernick’s first ad. That percentage was down to 10 percent among millennials and 6 amongst Generation Z. Conversely, a staggering 56 percent of those surveyed said they were more likely to purchase from Nike after seeing the commercial.

The values of old, white, Christian people are completely different than their younger, browner, less Christian counterparts. Who knew.

Re: Wither Colin Kaepernick
Military members like this annoy the fuck outta me. (Sorry for the Fox News link.)
Thank you for your service, bud. But you don't get to dictate how private citizens protest -- and protest over something that isn't against the troops or the flag -- because your physiological response to seeing someone kneel during the national anthem is you getting offended.
While serving you give up some of your first amendment rights so that the rest of the country can have them all. Tough shit. Deal with it. But if you want to assuage your feelings with cash from like minded people, have at it. You fought for capitalism and American imperialism, make that money.

Re: Wither Colin Kaepernick
Clay Travis making a big deal about that initial stock drop (which was probably unrelated as Adidas and Puma has similar drops) was both predictable and incredibly self serving. He just wrote a book called “Republicans Buy Sneakers Too” for which the cover art was Trump dunking on Kaepernick. So Nike selling a shit load of sneakers by using Kaepernick as a pitchman is exactly what that race-baiting asshole deserves.Johnnie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 6:13 pmBut, but, but, but their stock went down the day the ad came out. Fun fact: The story that that phrase is attributed to Michael Jordan is the Yi Jianlian working out against a chair Mandela Effect story for lazy conservative assholes trying to make a point, but failing miserably.

Did Michael Jordan Ever Say "Republicans Buy Sneakers, Too"?

Yeah, I had to re-tweet something about all the sneaker companies' stock moves in a response to Travis because I am followed by people who follow him.Joe K wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 11:18 amClay Travis making a big deal about that initial stock drop (which was probably unrelated as Adidas and Puma has similar drops) was both predictable and incredibly self serving. Michael Jordan didn't say that phrase. Yi didn't post up a chair.

Nailed it:
Veterans don’t get to decide what ‘respecting the flag’ means
(Whichever state I decide to retire in, I'm hoping I can get YWFMS on a veteran plate.)
Veterans don’t get to decide what ‘respecting the flag’ means
And this gem is also linked in there:Yet the flag is not a symbol reserved for the military. It is a symbol of the United States of America, and it belongs equally to all citizens, including Americans who kneel during the anthem, or those who wear flag shirts (which is also in violation of the unenforceable flag code), or even those who burn the flag.

Also, Colin Kaepernick is Nike's $6 billion man
Lol at all those triggered conservative outlets and people who burned their shoes.

Re: Wither Colin Kaepernick
It’s amazing to me how many people, even those acting in good faith, just assume that everyone with purchasing power is a right-winger. Maybe my perception is skewed from having lived in liberal cities for so long (St. Louis is way more liberal than Missouri as a whole) but I see many thriving businesses that have fully embraced progressive politics. And yet so many people just assume that any team or brand would get destroyed by associating with Kaepernick.
Re: Wither Colin Kaepernick
It's because they're stupid.
Nike has donated three times as much money to Republicans as Democrats this year.
I just love seeing triggered conservative snowflakes because they are literally incapable of self awareness. And the Veteran Justice Warrior subset of that crowd is the best of the best.

I jumped in on a Fb debate about a topic I don't even remember, I just remember that I was being pretty reasonable when folks started with calling me a piece of shit troll, and when I called that person out, I was called a snowflake and then someone else said I was triggered. I gave them the "OK" emoji and punched out.Johnnie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 7:06 pm It's because they're stupid.

I know it's a cliche around here at this point, but there really is no point anymore.
My favorite Fb moment from last week was brian telling some mouthbreather to take her racist bullshit elsewhere and to fuck off. It's really the only way to communicate now. Unreal.

I was just going to post in the NFL thread something to effect of Washington singlehandedly winning Kaep's collusion case against the NFL.

Sounds like the settlement agreement is confidential so we may not find out how much:
Re: Wither Colin Kaepernick
The NFL feared all of this stuff coming out so they are paying big money, probably north of $50M. In the end the amount (or a reasonably accurate number) will come out.

Good for him. Sounds like there was proof of a lot of things and this would've been another instance of the NFL fucking around -- but in such an egregious way it would've dwarfed everything else.

Would have been awesome for all of the evidence to come out in a public trial, but I don't blame Kaep/Reid for taking the money. Never know what's gonna happen with a jury.
