Yeah, I'm not sure it really matters. It's going through the roof regardless (unless he gets injured).degenerasian wrote: Wed Aug 22, 2018 12:43 pm depends on the post season. If Yankees lose to the Red Sox and Dodgers don't even make the playoffs. Bidding for Harper will go through the roof.

Is Josh Donaldson washed? Because if he still has anything left that’s a nice pickup by Cleveland. They needed another bat.

Yes. And I mean this, the fanbase mostly doesn't deserve him.

I agree. I'm amazed at the percentage of Reds fans who hate Votto.tennbengal wrote: Tue Sep 04, 2018 9:00 amYes. And I mean this, the fanbase mostly doesn't deserve him.

So yeah, fuck that Canuck.
He's a guy I'd be willing to unload legit prospects for (if I'm Brian Cashman) to entice the Reds into committing into a legit, full-on rebuild.
Holy shit - Votto in front of Judge and Stanton? What's his career OBP anyway? .600?
Love that stat from earlier this summer where since the beginning of 2010, Votto has popped out a grand total of 7 times and that the MLB average during that timespan would be 127 times.

It's too bad he has a no trade clause. I think his mental health/anxiety challenges make him unlikely to ever leave CincinnatiEnochRoot wrote: Tue Sep 04, 2018 2:10 pmI mean, he is only 12th all time in on base percentage, and 17th in OPS.Sabo wrote: Tue Sep 04, 2018 9:38 amI agree. Even if the Yankees could create a package where Ellsbury's going back with some prospects that may or may not ever pan out?mister d wrote: Tue Sep 04, 2018 3:52 pm The aging curve is why I wouldn't want his contract in NY at this point.
That said, the guy's got a ridiculous hitter's eye. I'd be willing to mortgage any of a couple of MiL arms not named Justus Sheffield to make that happen.

Eh ... his isoP drop this season isn't very promising. Might rather just let Ellsbury be dead money versus creating new dead money later down the road.EnochRoot wrote: Tue Sep 04, 2018 4:11 pmEven if the Yankees could create a package where Ellsbury's going back with some prospects that may or may not ever pan out?

Ohtani is amazing, even if the pitching injuries are a let down. He’s homered in 3 of his last 5 at bats and is up to a .958 OPS on the season. For a guy his age that is seriously impressive.brian wrote: Wed Sep 05, 2018 5:09 pm I'll take most predictable future tweets from the beginning of the season, Alex.

Yeah. The Rays writer will vote for Wendle and I guess Torres will get a vote or two..But unless Torres goes all Miggy Tejada and carries the Yankees on his back to a division title, it’ll be Ohtani in a landslide.

So this week I got to see the longest home run in the Statcast Era. Had it been an inning earlier I would have had a fair chance of catching (outwrestling someone for) it.

The Tigers organization has been pretty bad at baseball of late but they did a stellar job with their event planning around the jersey retirements for Morris and Trammell and the 50th anniversary of the ‘68 championship.
Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
DENVER — Cody Bellinger jogged out to center field in Sunday’s sixth inning at Coors Field. Two innings later, he jogged back to first base. The reigning National League rookie of the year played only three innings of the Dodgers’ crucial 9-6 victory over the Rockies, but he played two positions.
As rare as it sounds, it has become rote. Bellinger has now appeared at first base in 102 games this season, and in center field some 60 times.
“It’s just normal to me now,” Bellinger said. “People say it’s weird. It’s normal.”
It is normal to few others. Only three major-leaguers have matched Bellinger’s feat of at least 60 appearances at the two positions, according to Baseball-Reference.com. Phil Cavarretta split time for the 1942 Cubs. Lee Mazzilli managed it for the 1980 Mets. And Nick Swisher did it for the 2008 White Sox.
“That,” Swisher said, “is super fucking cool.”

I legitimately hoped Verlander would throw a no-hitter against the Tigers today if only because it would have been an amazing spectacle on several levels (and JV getting a third no-hitter is something I hope happens one day regardless). Still, got a little dusty as he received the standing ovation going to the mound.

Throw in Sheffield and Torres and see if you can get Starlin Castro to play 2B. So sick of Torres’ sloppy errors.
Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
Nah. Torres is far closer to being a perennial all-star than a potential washout, but you know this.. Sheffield is a coin toss (again, if you're honest). Florial was to chum the waters.mister d wrote: Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:43 pm Throw in Sheffield and Torres and see if you can get Starlin Castro to play 2B. So sick of Torres’ sloppy errors.
