Vontae Davis apparently pulled himself from the lineup at halftime and retired on the spot.
I guess that's what Bills Football will do to you.

Don't let the score make it look like the Bills were ever in this game - it was done in the first quarter. Davis may have done the team a favour as now this will be the main story and not the fact that the Bills were brutally unprepared on defense.

Lions-Cardinals might be close.

Didn’t hurt that the Steelers couldn’t cover Kelce, but Mahomes looks pretty good.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.
Re: NFL 2018 Week 2
Pretty sure the Raiders would’ve won today if they still had Khalil Mack on their defense. Raiders got little pressure on Keenum in the 2nd half. Last time they played Denver, Mack had five sacks.

Mahomes looks amazing.
The body weight personal foul call bullshit is beyond infuriating. Impossible to know when it will be called, feels arbitrary at best. And that call against the Packers today was absolutely atrocious.

Ok, this really is fantastic:
Re: NFL 2018 Week 2
I don't see how any team can defend against the Chiefs. They are just too good from top to bottom. If you try to man up against them, someone will be open downfield. If you go into a zone, they'll stretch you too thin and Mahomes will take advantage of any window.
Contrast that with defending the Steelers, which is tough but much more palatable. The Chiefs didn't respect any of the Steelers WRs to beat them deep and outside of Juju, none of them really got consistently open. And that appeared to be due more to scheme than physical ability. KC seems to be holding by design in the secondary (because they aren't going to call all of them and their DBs aren't very good), which would be a good gameplan against the Steelers because you force Ben to nickel and dime down the field and he'll eventually fuck up.

And it had to work in Mahomes' (and the team's) favour that he sat on the bench watching a good QB and learning from good coaches for a full season.
And - of course - the Bills could have taken him with that 10th pick last year.

The Browns are like the bizarro Bears in that they have had a history of shitty QBs but in contrast to Chicago, they have drafted them high for millions of years with little to nothing to show for it. Also, both teams can probably say that Brian Hoyer is in their top 3 all-time.
I think it's pretty clear that the Browns would take Carson Wentz if they could do it all over again, but this isn't Hot Tub Time Machine and they can't. You can ask Mark Chmura if you don't believe me. Since they haven't been able to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo (yet), I think they go for talent and ceiling over floor and take Mahomes at 12.
I love Mahomes as a prospect. He comes from one of those 'gimmick' Big 12 offenses but before Mahomes, there was Aaron Rodgers coming from a similarly gimmicky offense. Oh, those QBs can't succeed in the NFL! Look at Kyle Boller! Well, Aaron Rodgers can throw dimes off his back foot across his body 40 yards downfield while running to his right, so it really didn't matter that he took a lot of shotgun snaps or whatever it was with Tedford. Mahomes is the same way. Nobody else except maybe Russell Wilson can throw like this. Mahomes' arm is ridiculous, and he's accurate as hell, and his deep ball is amazing, and he's a pretty decent athlete, and why are we focusing so much on how he took a snap? Imagine if Mahomes had less talent but had the same issues he has now, taking primarily shotgun snaps, having inconsistent footwork, making limited reads...and pretend that his name is Jared Goff. What's the difference? Why are we talking down Mahomes so much on the negatives while completely ignoring all the unbelievable talent that he has and the actual throws he's put on tape? Is Texas Tech that toxic? Just because Kliff fuckin' Kingsbury didn't make it, nobody from that school can? I think Mahomes will be a star and the best QB in this class and I don't see him dropping anywhere near the 2nd round in this draft. Even in the deepest drafts, teams could not help but reaching for Blake Bortleses. This guy actually has real elite QB talent, so I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even make it to pick 12.

GPJ, do you think it is possible to defend against the Giants?

Dalton is gonna be fine and might will continue to be a good NFL quarterback, give or take, and is off to a great start to the year. But...man. They picked John Ross just ahead of where Mahomes went last year. I think Ross is gonna be a good pro, but, still.
Re: NFL 2018 Week 2
I'm kinda feeling about the Texans the same way brian feels about the Lions. It's more fun to watch them suck and be OK with it.

Makes Sunday nights and Monday mornings a lot calmer too. I was traveling yesterday and missed the game but didn't care. First time I've done that in years.

I watched the first half of the Bills game and was actually laughing at the brutal ineptitude of the team. When all hope is gone, comedy is all that's left.
then - like Vontae Davis - I quit on the team. Ended up watching the 2nd half of the Steelers-Chiefs game.

Re: NFL 2018 Week 2
This was my mindset going into the Jets season.Since my wife does a lot of work with the Jets, she has gotten to know a bunch of players and all of the Jets execs, and it's completely warped my view of the game. She feels motherly towards the players, as she tries to make them feel comfortable at corporate events, and we've gotten to see some behind the scenes stuff, so it feels like a business with interchangeable parts on the field. It's weird. Anyways, I wasn't all that excited about the product on the field, but I'm a huge fan of guys like long snapper Thomas Hennessy and Avery Williamson as people. Avery might be the greatest personality of anyone I've met. Then the Lions game, and suddenly there is excitement around the team, the D looked amazing, Darnold was serviceable in his debut, and shaking off the pick-six on his first career play actually made me much more excited about his prospects. We went to the game yesterday, and I have never seen Jets fans this loud and into the game. The tailgate was more exciting, the crowd was nuts. Even down 20-0 at the half in a very hot stadium, the crowd didn't lose any intensity. It was amazing. Now I'm invested and somewhat optimistic, and care again. I know I'm in for a long, ugly season and it's going to suck, but my heart is back into this team.

After two wins by the narrowest of margins (yesterday against my most hated team), I feel myself getting sucked in a bit again by the Broncos. But, I know the train is coming down the tracks somewhere, right toward me.

Dalton is like a thermometer. His performance tells you just how good the rest of the offense is.tennbengal wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 10:12 am Dalton is gonna be fine and might will continue to be a good NFL quarterback, give or take, and is off to a great start to the year. Re: NFL 2018 Week 2
I'll be honest, I watch so little NFL coverage these days, that I'd honestly never heard of Mahomes before yesterday (or more likely, I'd heard his name but didn't pay attention). Damn, that kid is good.
That said, Pittsburgh's secondary was AWFUL yesterday, but still. Even against bad defenses, not many QBs throw 6 TDs in a game.

Same. I followed on Twitter, but literally all I heard or saw was Watson's awful last play.

Re: NFL 2018 Week 2
I tried to trade up to get him but the other guy didn't check his texts until too late but its not because I knew anything, its because I knew my other friend who likes to wait until the last minute on QBs was probably targeting him and I wanted to be a dick.
