Agreed. I think releasing that info ends up backfiring on them.

I have no kids and no plans all weekend. I could conceivably go until 8:00 Sunday night without having to interact with another human. This divorce thing is so underrated.

Today is the first day the blinds in my office are opened since June. Fall is here. So nice to no longer feel like I'm working in a cave.

They won’t take mine. Some elevated enzyme in my liver levels. I would though.

I need to give. Universal donor and the vampires continually call me. Usually the only call to our home phone.

Had been giving every 60 days or so (I can get to a hospital and donate over lunch) but they’re making me take a year off because of the rabies vaccine I got back in February.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

I also give blood regularly. Double platelets usually.
I know it doesn't work that way, but I like to imagine that I'm buying karma points.

You guys are good dudes. I don't go regularly, but I think I'm cleared to donate again.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
I just got told today that I have this "elevated enzyme" thing.
Found out about it because I told my PCM that I want my non big toe toenails removed completely (they're all ingrown and I thank them out) and when she said "eh, let's try anti fungal pills first...but let's get a blood test on your liver before that because I'm too cautious and the pills could negatively affect your liver." And yeah. Got a call to tell me that this morning.
Happy day after my birthday to me!

Liver enzymes can be normalized, depending on the cause, of course. I had elevated liver enzymes and a fatty liver. Stopped drinking for a while, lost a little weight, and the liver has been clean for 10+ years.Johnnie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 9:01 pmI just got told today that I have this "elevated enzyme" thing.

That's what I'm gathering from some googling. Lucky for me I can go without alcohol and not be affected there. Sure, I'd miss some social inebriation with friends, but that's no biggie.

Didn't work out how I would have liked. She went to see Ed Sheeran so I got stuck with taking the evil one to a church feast. I've always hated those things. I'm pretty sure that's how they get people to believe that hell is real.

It’s lose.
And losing.
When did seemingly the entire English writing world stop spelling those words correctly?

And then people think you’re the elitist asshole when you point out they’re spelling it wrong. No able-minded person over the age of ten should make that mistake.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.

With the frequency of common misspellings like that one, I find it very hard to believe they are typos.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
I can't even point it out randomly in the random thread? Without calling any particular person out? Tough Baltimore crowd.
My main thought is...I don't think it is a mis-type. I think people now believe that is how it is spelled. When it is a whole different word.
Or, and this crossed my mind too, maybe I am the crazy one who has been spelling it wrong my entire life. Or maybe I am having memories of an alternative earth where it is spelled lose and am now on this earth where it is spelled loose.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
I was scheduled to donate blood this morning. I took their online questionnaire ahead of time and acknowledged my heart attack and related drugs I now take, and was given the admission ticket anyway. But after I had the pre-donation interview meeting with the nurse today, they kicked me out because it hasn't been quite six months yet since the incident. Funny walking past the other people on my way out as they see I was leaving the interview without donating. I presume they think I have AIDS or something.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
I live in a town house with a shared wall.
My neighbor doesn't have his address number on his half. I have very large numbers on my half.
I also have a door that is set back from the street and he has this very pronounced privacy gate.
Sometimes UPS and USPS either leave packages in front of his house or "fail to deliver" because they don't have access to his front door, thinking it's all one large house.
It's infuriating. There's gotta be a law that requires the number of the house to be displayed, right?

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
Guy I've known since Junior High - two grades older than me, so not close or anything - but who later in life I met because he's married to my wife's best friend (and they are very close), so I see a lot of him.
Good guy, he and his wife don't have kids, so always close with mine.
Anyway, after months and months and months of ignoring pain and treating it with weed, it turns out that he's riddled with cancer. Maybe from the pancreas or colon, tests aren't definitive.
But he'll be gone within 6 weeks - and it may be a lot sooner. I don;t know if there's a point to this post, maybe that when you hit middle age, get every test you can? Don't skip your annual physical?
Just fucking grim. His mother-in-law who he adored just died three months ago. And he took his wife to Spain to just get away after mourning ended. Christ, he and his wife were sightseeing in San Sebastien 5 weeks ago.
I don't know. When I was younger and heard the cliches about embracing every day, I'd roll my eyes. But you get older, and you lose loved ones and things like this happen to contemporaries and you realize that you have to.
Sorry for the bummer posting, just had to put it down.

Nah man sorry to hear that but you’re right. It’s good to remember we’re all going to die. It’s the one part of the Hagakure I remember word for word to this day:
“The Way of the Samurai is found in death. Meditation on one’s inevitable death should be performed daily.”
If you thinking about dying every day you won’t fail to live.
