Brian really wants someone to talk about James Franklin, guys.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

I hope Lil'Jordan Humphrey becomes a big, bright, beautiful star in the NFL because his name will never not make me giggle.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

I don't follow the NCAA too closely, but I sure do like seeing Bobby Petrino fail spectacularly.

I can't speak for brian, but Franklin really gets under people's skin a lot. And he really is spectacularly bad on the sidelines at times.
His assistants had to hold him back from calling a TO last week on a change of possession.

Looking forward to the end of the Meyer era at tOSU.
Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
It's so much that he's a bad coach. Lord knows there's a lot of those out there, but he might be the biggest example of a coach at a Power Five school who seems to never take as much flack as he should from both the team's fanbase and national writers for being really bad at one of the most important aspects of being a coach.
Recruiting is important too of course and he's a fantastic recruiter, but at some point a dude is just Ron Zook if he's recruiting four and five-star players and getting nothing from them on the field (or worse, getting something, but actually reducing the chances for Team X to win by being a dope with his in-game decisions.)
I actually think Franklin seems like a pretty good dude and he was great at Vandy so I don't have too much of an axe to grind w/r/t him personally.

I'm not. Because I'm terrified he's goign to go to the Browns.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.
Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
If the stress at tOSU is killing him, it's much worse at the NFL level so I imagine if he pulls the pin he might really be done-zo for good.

Nah... He'll take a couple/few years off, "get healthy", make promises to his family, then end up as Notre Dame's next coach whenever they have their next opening.

Maryland RB McFarland has 214 yards rushing against tOSU after 17 minutes. On pace for 700 yards for the game.

Bama also tied at halftime with the citadel. Which is likely to be bad for the citadel, but still.

ESPN announcers basically openly pulling for Ohio state.

I made a bunch of money loading up on in-game bets on tOSU. No way was the Big Ten gonna let them lose.

Maybe a hot take but I think Ohio State handles Michigan surprisingly easily next week.

Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
I hate the matchup for Michigan, since they have a very conventional offense that lacks big play ability. Ohio State would get massacred by Alabama or another stout defensive team that runs a good spread offense. But this feels like a game where Michigan’s defense holds up most of the way before Ohio State scores a couple of time late to win something like 27-20.

Ohio state is fucking awful.
Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
Even in Columbus, I expect the better team wins. That team is Michigan.

Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
Their defense is certainly awful but the offense is still really good. Regardless, West Virginia losing yesterday put a big dent in OSU’s playoff hopes. Now the Big 12 title game matchup will be Oklahoma/Texas if Oklahoma beats WVU next week. That would give Oklahoma the chance to avenge its only loss. A 1-loss Oklahoma team with a subsequent win over the only team to beat it would get in over a 1-loss OSU.

Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
As it should be. The only reason to hope for the buckeyes in the playoff is to want see them get beat 70-0. Actually now that I think about it, disappointing they would get left out.
Fuck urban Meyer.

That Oklahoma-WVU total is gonna be nuts. Probably like 82 or so.

So Miami has no scholarship tight ends healthy for this weekends game against Pitt. They had 2 freshmen playing. Both got hurt and now will roll with a walk on and eligible lineman. Guessing they will be playing out of the spread.

Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
I don't understand a prediction where OSU "handles" Michigan easily. They just aren't that good this year. I think this game is going to look a lot like playing MSU, where things just stay kind of ugly for 3 Qs and one team makes plays at the end to win.
MI is vulnerable to slants, they are not vulnerable to screens (team speed on D is off the charts.) OSU's defense is terrible. Harbaugh and the staff have a bunch of stuff they've been able to keep off tape because they've rolled everyone other than MSU since NW 6 or 7 weeks ago.
MSU was a weird game and that's how I think this game will go down. But handle easily? I'll take that bet.

On the "Against All Odds" podcast, Cousin Sal took the Oklahoma/West Virginia over 80 as his pick of the week.

Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
It could be even worse than that, as it’s the type of injury that could result in permanent disability. Milton’s injury is really a stark illustration of the immorality of the NCAA’s system of “amateurism” for big money sports. Milton undoubtedly generated a ton of revenue for UCF and it’s conference over the last two years with his stellar play. And not only was he unable to share in that windfall, he also suffered a potentially life-altering injury.
Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
Seems like we say this regularly, but if Michigan/tOSU actually gets exciting, I think Gus Williams is going to have an aneurism.

Meyer is always gonna pull a rabbit out of his hat no matter how bad his team looks all season.

Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
Their offense hasn’t looked bad at all though, which is why I really thought OSU would win this game. I like Harbaugh a lot, but his teams are always slogging it out on offense. At least Oklahoma won last night and they just need to beat Texas to spare us OSU in the playoff.
Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
I am extremely here for the meltdown from the Big 12 and B1G that’ll happen if Bama loses to UGA next week and still gets in over Oklahoma and tOSU.
Re: College Football 2018 (non-meltdown thread)
Sadly won’t spare us Meyer’s whining that they deserve to be in the playoffs. And whine he will
