He once told me his favorite guitarist was Led Zeppelin. When I asked if he meant Jimmy Page, he just said, ‘No, that guy’s a total hack, honestly.’
Re: The Live Music thread...
J. Mascis cancels the show because of “health issues”.

It sucked, but I still drove up anyway and hung w my buddy and his family for a day and a night. Weed was smoked and vodka was imbibed. Enjoyable visit and if the show gets rescheduled, I get to go back up there.

Gonna do a rare sports/concert doubleheader, hitting the USL opener for LV Lights FC and then Better Oblivion Community Center (Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers). Pretty excited about the BOCC show because their album is pretty awesome and this is specifically the kind of show we rarely get in Vegas.

Stupidest band name ever
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.
Re: The Live Music thread...
Metric on Sunday also, but I just saw them a few months ago and I can't hang with the young go-hards anymore.

Re: The Live Music thread...
The BOCC show was astounding. For their second show ever (they said -- I didn't look at the itinerary but if they started in LA in makes sense) it was really, really tight and awesome. Played the entire album and sprinkled in a couple of Bright Eyes songs and a couple of her songs as well as a cover of "Can't Hardly Wait" since they said the song "Chesapeake" has a reference to it.
In a different country, should be one of the biggest acts around. Phoebe Bridgers does a really good job of restraining Oberst's worst self-indulgent impulses. And not to sound like a weirdo, but I was really unprepared for how attractive she is in person.

Weezer and Pixies last night.
Took me down memory lane. 5 songs off Blue, 2 from Pinkerton, and 2 from Green. That covered half the set list.

Re: The Live Music thread...
The did play 5 off Teal and one cover not on any of their albums. So yeah, pretty close. The "rap" was from Pat about the weather. Something about rain, snow, then rain again in Grand Rapids.

Re: The Live Music thread...
They all did an ad-lib verse to Pork and Beans, and since Pat doesn't really sing, it was more of a rap.

Think this is the year I finally buy Psycho Fest tickets.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Deafheaven and Black Angels are definitely acts I love and fit in perfectly into the theme. There's some other lower-billed acts like Tobacco, Black Mountain and Soft Kill that I like as well.
(Now just wish it wasn't $300 for the weekend.)

The GF and I, along with 4 other couples, bought tix to see the Stones in May.
What are the chances that all 10 of us will be free on whatever the newly scheduled date is?

Hey man, you can't always get what you want. Hopefully you can take some small satisfaction in the fact that it's only rock and roll.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 2:09 pm The GF and I, along with 4 other couples, bought tix to see the Stones in May.
