Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
Disagree, I’ll rely on my kicker (5/7 from 50+ this season) to get me to within a score there. They haven’t been able to move the ball at all today.

Shut your whore mouth. No team that blows a 3.5 game lead deserves to get in.

Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
That’s assuming the Ravens defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way, however. A TD is much more valuable than a FG when down 9 because your defense can subsequently give up a FG and still have it be a one-possession game.

Have you been watching the ravens offense today? Get the points.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

I’m trying to get my head around Harbaugh not turning to Flacco at some point in the 3Q.
Fucking stupid.

Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
That’s yet another reason why I’d rather take my chances needing 30 yards for a TD after converting that 4th down than needing to string together a longer TD drive later in the game after settling for a long FG. Obviously this is all moot with LAC tacking on 11 more points but in the moment I thought that was clearly a bad decision, Tucker or not.
Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
At least at the start of the 4th down 3 scores when you HAVE TO PASS.

Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
So you don’t get the points, give them more momentum and a short field? I’ll take the 3 (in theory) and start SD deep in their own territory.Joe K wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 3:47 pmThat’s yet another reason why I’d rather take my chances needing 30 yards for a TD after converting that 4th down than needing to string together a longer TD drive later in the game after settling for a long FG. Are the Chargers really going to run the ball 3 times and give it back?

No, they’re going to get called for holding.

Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
Were they ever not going to run three times to kill the clock as much as possible? And they're gonna run on 3rd and 18 or whatever this is after the holding call to get the clock running as much as possible before punting.degenerasian wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 4:15 pm Are the Chargers really going to run the ball 3 times and give it back?

I'm stunned by an actual pass play. Ravens will have about 45 seconds after the punt.

The Flacco > Jackson thing ignores that Flacco was statistically not a better passer than Jackson this year and that the Ravens offensive line had a hard time today

Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
While true, it's not like Jackson didn't put up arguably the worst 56 minute game of any QB in the past 25 years. I mean, the announcers were sugar-coating the fact the Chargers used a QB spy at MLB, as if teams haven't replaced LBs with DBs to spy on mobile QBs. The Giants used to do that to Randall Carmichael.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 4:32 pmThe Flacco > Jackson thing ignores that Flacco was statistically not a better passer than Jackson this year and that the Ravens offensive line had a hard time today
And at any rate - swapping QBs would've also been about motivating the entire team...

I'm immature enough to chuckle that Philly's offensive backfield consists of a guy nicknamed, "Big Dick Nick", and a guy named Smallwood.

Is it just me, or is there something wrong with the main field camera for this game? It looks like it's from the '80s when everything else is in HD.

Does benching the rookie for the veteran who he's been better than -- and the team has been more successful with the rookie -- really motivate the team? That feels iffy.EnochRoot wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 4:43 pmWhile true, it's not like Jackson didn't put up arguably the worst 56 minute game of any QB in the past 25 years. And Jackson putting up a bad game is also related to the offensive line's problems. What if Jackson's 20+ yard run to the Charger 20 doesn't get called back for a hold on their second possession of the third quarter?
Jackson played poorly for a large portion of the game. But so did the offensive line. And Jackson was at his best when he was scrambling around and making plays. Putting Flacco in for Jackson doesn't solve the offensive line problems and may also make them worse. While also forcing the Chargers to worry about just one rushing threat instead of two. There's no convincing case to be made that he was the better option.

Not sure how bringing in a less mobile less accurate QB motivates anyone.

I also think that if the team was behind Flacco more than it was Jackson then Flacco would have gotten his job back when he was healthy.

Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
Don’t know where else to put this. A few weeks back I’m watching football with my little guys and someone was backed up to their own end zone. I mentioned they have to be careful so they don’t end up with a safety. They didn’t know what a safety was, so I paused the game, explained it, and then fired up a video on YouTube of safeties. After a couple minutes, I stopped it and then said I needed to show them the “best” safety ever, and showed them the Orlovsky.
After watching it, they both cracked up, and L-Jam4, all of 7 years old, said “Wow Dad. That quarterback sucks.”

What? The right tackle got murdered and the ball was stripped. How is that Jackson’s fault? And they are not in that spot if Jackson doesn’t do heroics in the 4th. The ravens o-line blocking was shit.
Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
Not sure why you'd not blame a mobile QB from not mobilizing from a pocket that looked iffy from the get.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 5:36 pmWhat? The interior line looked like shit, yes. But please spare me re: Jackson's heroics by throwing a couple TDs against what was largely a prevent defense.

Please spare me yearning for warmed over shit in Flacco be brought into a game where the ravens were blocking like ass. And I don’t care how mobile anyone is, when a RT gets slaughtered around the edge not much a qb can do - that ball was clean swiped. If Jackson isn’t potentially special, that comeback doesn’t happen. Good grief.

Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
It's all hands on deck. You're losing. Your rookie QB has done nothing. At all. It's safe to think the Chargers learned from what they saw of him two weeks ago out in California. Snuffed out. And yeah, you can put a whole lotta blame on Harbaugh for that. That's why I was saying just go back to Flacco to make the Chargers adjust away from their 7 DB sets.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 5:00 pmDoes benching the rookie for the veteran who he's been better than -- and the team has been more successful with the rookie -- really motivate the team? Re: NFL Playoffs-Wildcard Weekend
Potentially special cuz he finally started to move the ball against a prevent defense? That's quite the measuring stick. There isn't a single starting QB in the NFL who wouldn't have moved the ball in that situation. Bottom line is this offense got figured out by a team it played a couple weeks ago. Good grief, indeed.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 5:50 pm Please spare me yearning for warmed over shit in Flacco to brought into a game where the ravens were blocking like ass. Wait.
So its incomplete because no one recovered the fumble or just incomplete cause it was not a catch?
