I default to a short rib anytime I see it on a menu. Filet risotto looks good too. Can’t go wrong with a steak and a loaded potato either.

Re: Dinner
I'll have the crab and roasted corn soup and the scallops rissoto.
And that is the first menu I've seen that has market price for beer.

Baja Shrimp and Scallop Burrito, and I'll split the crab cake BLT with someone.

One of my kids will eat it, and I can prepare it on a week night, which is enough to make it a regular winter meal.

Re: Dinner
Just tried Skyline for the first time. Not bad on a coney.

It's great stuff...nectar of the Gods. My only complaint about living in Colorado is not having any of the restaurants.
I would like expensive whiskey.

Re: Dinner
Skyline's good if you don't get it on spaghetti because that's just psychopath stuff right there.

Re: Dinner
I much prefer gold star and don’t mind it on the spaghetti. I don’t consider that form a real chili mind you. Nowhere near meaty enough for that but I enjoy it on the odd occasion.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Re: Dinner
Yeah, I don't get that objection at all. I've never had Skyline, but "it's on top of spaghetti" would be much less of a deterrent than "it looks like diarrhea."

Those words don't make any sense. Gold Star is the LA Clippers of Cincinnati chili restaurants.

HOT TAKE ALERT
I think skyline has way too much cinnamon.

Re: Dinner
What surprised me the most was the great conversation with the manager and waitress. It was obvious I'd never been there, so we started talking about how it compares to Texas chili which led to a discussion about other regional foods. He gave me an interesting lesson on the origins of Cincinnati chili. Apparently Skyline is a Greek recipe while Gold Star is Arabic.

Re: Dinner
Didn't know that bit about Gold Star, but I know Skyline was started by a Greek family. The flavors in Skyline are similar to the meat sauce in moussaka, which is a traditional Greek casserole with potatoes or eggplant.

No, but I've heard tell. My jam is Yia Yia in College Park, though I usually get a gyro platter.

Re: Dinner
It is two shoulders wide place you walk into and order and leave. For $10 you get about 5000 calories of delciousness. Pistacio is my favorite but have never had anything bad. They throw in a half roll of sour dough, orzo, and green beans. Line can be long but it moves like the soup nazi from Seinfeld.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 2:13 pmwlu_lax6 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 1:53 pmnonlinear...ever had it from the Greek deli on 19th?Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 12:16 pmmoussaka is fucking delicious.
