Also, he gave $5K but offered $20K which pretty clearly means he intended to give only $5K and the caddie was like "WTF?"

Well, again, they had agreed on a payment. Then he happened to win. He hadn't won in like four years, so he probably didn't have a lot of thought of winning that week. So to offer a bit more was nice, but I can totally get why Kuchar thinks it was handled fairly.
And also i totally see why he's being roasted.

I don't want to paint too broad of a brush, but... I ACTIVELY don't go looking at the political views of most athletes, so I won't go around being all disappointed all the time.govmentchedda wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 4:30 pmKevin Van Valkenburg tweeted something similar, as Kuchar's "appeal" is his golly gee, oh shucks, likeable persona.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 4:26 pmPut another way (as a comms/marketing guy) Kuchar should be pissed at his agent (or whatever similarly positioned suit made the decision), because $50k would've been worth the amount of free media he would've garnered by PUSHING THE STORY OUT. Pretty dumb, actually.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 3:28 pmYeah, it's almost literally pennies for Kuchar and life-changing money for the caddy. Wonder if it would have been worth $50K to not have the embarrassment at having this aired out... and the story of him doing this for the caddy would have ended up getting out, too, which probably would have gotten him some additional sponsorship/public speaking gigs to more than recoup the 50K.

Over $46.6 million in career earnings. Plus endorsements. Had just won $1.3 million.A_B wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 4:53 pmWell, again, they had agreed on a payment. Then he happened to win. He shouldn't have offered more, he should have just handed it over, regardless of having agreed on a payment.

A flat fee is a flat fee. The caddy would have gotten that if Kuch missed the cut which means not working two less days.
And his caddie has no expenses.

How has an agent not required his golfers to get an NDA is place with the caddy at this point as part of the standard operating proceedure. At minimum you would avoid this and some tell all book.

If he was worried about getting found out he would have paid him what he knew was fair from the start. People like this never think they're going to get found out. That's how sexual assault and a whole bunch of other shitty stuff happen. This whole story is a microcosm of our entire shitty society. Rich people exploiting the labor of poorer people, especially people of color and then not expecting anyone to care when they get called out for being a cheap bastard.

Restaurants also charge a flat fee and then you customarily leave more than a 0.4% tip.degenerasian wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 10:43 am A flat fee is a flat fee. The caddy would have gotten that if Kuch missed the cut which means not working two less days.

Would have been cooler if he paid the full caddy share after all this. Probably the only way to really wipe it clean.

Paying him 50k, per caddies request. Donating to charity.
Classic crisis comms statement and response. So avoidable.

He was dragged kicking and screaming via a PR shitstorm to pay half of what he should have (instead of the actual $130,000) then donates money to charity which he will surely take as a tax write-off. Win-Win!
He deserves to be in the "Punchable Faces" HOF.

So Tiger points at fatigue as the reason he fell off the pace. Doesn't that point to not selecting him for Ryder/President's cup. Also weren't match play finals generally 36 holes. Maybe fatigue was not from the course.

So Hank Haney guessed correctly. And adding 6 to the end of name because there are 5 other golfers with the same name is just strange.

It is, but Eun is the most common Korea middle name, which becomes the hyphenated first name. Many Korean girls will be something-Eun or Eun-something. It's like Thi in Vietnamese, if you know any. My wife's name is Thi-Thu To (say that 3 times)
In this case, they just call her 'Six' which is a cool nickname. She could have chosen something bland like Janice Lee.

US Open Sectional Qualification is going on now.
8,602 went for 500 spots for local qualification to go to sectional.
927 are trying for 75 spots to go with the 75 exempt.
Folks trying to qualify include
Dufner, Goosen, Harrington, Homa (won last month on the tour), Luke Donald, Pieters, Stricker, Varner III, and Westwood.
Bramlet, Vaughn Taylor, Denny McCarthy, and Billy Hurley III are playing not too far from my office
