In Alberta, the UCP (Conservatives) and NDP (Progressives) both unveiled their platforms for the April 16th election.
And they could not be further apart in ideology. Albertans have a clear choice in this election.

Clearly lil' Trudeau has surrounded his handsome self with nothing but yes persons.
And what specifically did Scheer say (outside the House) that is defamatory? Does our Feminist-In-Chief really think it's a good idea to let Scheer defend his insults in court?
What an idiot.

Our new carbon tax has cranked up gas prices, and many, many people have claimed that it's some form of cash grab that will hurt consumers.
Well, our tone deaf government has answered the critics by choosing as one of its first publicity moves related to the carbon tax...

A company that had $800 million in profits last year and has been convicted of price fixing in recent years. Want to bet they donate to the Liberal party?

The carbon tax is a cash grab that hurts everyone.
The amount of money it would actually take to make any difference is astronomical. They would have to develop a full program not just tax.

Massive Cabinet Shuffle in Ontario
Premier Ford is in the sewer in terms of polling.
Rumours have it that the polls were bad enough, getting booed lustily at a convention was worse, having most of the crowd at a Special Olympics opening ceremony boo him was still worse, but the last straw was being booed by an otherwise deliriously happy crowd at the raptors' celebration was the last straw.
Guy ran on fiscal responsibility, and the cabinet just grew from 21 members to 28. A complete shitshow.

Funny. I just had a phone interview with a recruiter who called me about a job in Vancouver. Other than handshakes, that's the same pose that all world leaders assume with each other. It's called "diplomacy"
And Ezra Levant is a sub-Breitbart level right wing provocateur. I advise all our American friends to imagine that they are reading a tweet from someone with the integrity of Jesse Watters.

Justin Trudeau: the rise and fall of a political brand
"As things stand, Trudeau’s main opponent is the Conservative leader, Andrew Scheer. Scheer has vowed to roll back carbon taxes, opposed UN efforts to promote global cooperation on migration and wants to move Canada’s embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He has also appointed a former board member of Rebel Media, a far-right website that has been described as Breitbart North, as his campaign manager."

So, it appears a lot of Canadiens would prefer to try out their own version of a Trump wannabe, instead of a guy they dislike.

I wouldn't call Scheer a Trump wannabe. He's not that far off from Harper who was PM for 10 years running a right-wing agenda.sancarlos wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 10:46 am So, it appears a lot of Canadiens would prefer to try out their own version of a Trump wannabe, instead of a guy they dislike.
Canada, although not as polarized as the US, has always had a clear Conservative party. Perhaps their views become more controversial over time, but those views haven't changed.
I still think Trudeau is going to win. He has Quebec and Ontario.

Do you think Maxime bernier's anti-immigration onslaught will benefit Scheer by giving him the chance to look reasonable by comparison?degenerasian wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 12:10 pmI wouldn't call Scheer a Trump wannabe. And I think your prediction is a good one - but this could be a minority government in which case the Conservatives will need to go back to picking a leader who is more appealing.

Yeah, but... I have a feeling that the Conservative party will see that the anti-immigrant stuff is a non-starter in the major cities (Toronto and vancouver anyway - and since Scheer is unilingual, he won;t be carrying Montreal) and may tone things down.sancarlos wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 10:46 am So, it appears a lot of Canadiens would prefer to try out their own version of a Trump wannabe, instead of a guy they dislike.

That may be a small part of the problem, but that party is such a mess that it has nominated candidates in less than half of the ridings across the country. The Greens are in place in 274 of the 338. It seems obvious that come the 22nd of October, there will be a new 3rd party in Canada.

The 3rd party might be the Bloc!
