I think that's what I've been thinking. Well said.
Heck, about Martin himself, it takes a shitton of guts to go public about hazing.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
It takes guts to go to the boss and tell on the other guys in the locker room, knowing that there will be retribution beyond what you have already endured. A lot less guts to quit and walk away and let your lawyer do the telling for you.
So Ritchie says his piece. I think he is full of shit, but he does make some good points. (I think both are possible.) Of course his bad history clouds his credibility in my estimation. He did not convince me I would hire him on my team.
I want to hear about the money, which has vanished from the jibber-jabber since the first days of this controversy.
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.
Those days are gone forever

Oh yeah…
The whole "it's the culture of the locker room" aspect of this is not going to rub anyone the right way at all. I completely expected that to be pinned as the culprit. And it's genius too. You can't physically change culture. You can only influence the people who make it up. And since this culture is chock full of millionaires who clearly don't give a fuck about your opinion (as opposed to say the military culture I live in), this story is going to be pretty weird to follow before it plateaus.
In reference to prostitutes: Strippers who go the extra mile.
Excellent. That should be trademarked.
I've just started reading and all of this is awesome. This is exactly how typical dudes talk to each other. Unabashed misogyny, constant insults that aren't insults, and frat-boyish mindsets.
I can already feel the women's rights groups having conniption fits over this.

The text on June 1st, 2013. Martin is at the strip club at noon and sends a photo of him with 2 strippers to Incognito.

Like...what the fuck happened? Out of nowhere they went from being friends to enemies. Something's missing here. The context of this is much clearer now, but there's still questions to be answered.

We did not yammer about the report in here. I found it fascinating, particularly the discussions between the bullied player and his parents.
Here's what kills me about the stuff I've read on Deadspin....not only was Incognito a grade-A asshole to Martin, but he was the same way to the Dolphin staff. I've heard/read people trotting out the whole "Its a football locker room! Martin in a pussy who needed to get tough with Incognito! This stuff happens in every locker room!!" line, but what about the poor assistant trainer who Incognito was abusing as well? That guy was just trying to do his job, and here is Incognito making Pearl Harbor jokes and whatnot to him. If anyone of us did that kind of thing at work, we'd be disciplined pretty harshly, if not just outright fired.
I don't see how Philbin survives this. Either he knew about it, and let it go...or he didn't know about it, and was clueless about the atmosphere in the locker room.
Gunpowder wrote:I can't imagine things of this magnitude happen in many Richie Incognito-free locker rooms.
You have a very different imagination than me... I imagine this happens in every locker room. We'll probably have a wave of bullied players soon.
To this degree? Certainly didn't happen in college.
I think that it was exacerbated by the ability of it to continue via text while away from the locker room. Before, what happened in the locker room stayed in the locker room. Now, you can continue any sort of behavior almost constantly.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.
He'll be dead within the year and then there will be a brain exam and then CTE and then Wolf Blitzer and then Arsenio and then Nancy Grace and you'll never, ever stop hearing about it.
Johnny Hotcakes wrote:I had almost forgotten that Nancy Grace existed until coming across this thread. Ignorance was bliss.
I had forgotten until I saw a clip of her insanely ranting about marijuana being the greatest evil in the world. Screeching at some pro-pot dude, along with a law enforcement officer who has seen things, man. Then it was side-by-side with a clip of her passionately arguing the polar opposite. She is truly a despicable cunt.
