So yes, the guy who declares 'facts don't care about your feelings' and throws out 'DEBATE ME!' challenges gets frustrated, storms off the set, and exposes that he doesn't do the most rudimentary googling about the host.Right-wing commentator and “cool kid’s philosopher” Ben Shapiro stormed out of a contentious BBC interview on Thursday after accusing the conservative host of being a “leftist” and bragging about how popular he is.
During the pre-taped interview with BBC interviewer Andrew Neil promoting his new book, The Right Side of History: How Reason and Moral Purpose Made the West Great, Shapiro quickly became perturbed when Neil—who is known for playing devil’s advocate in interviews—pressed him on recent attempts to roll back abortion rights, asking the editor-in-chief of clickbait rage factory The Daily Wire if those policies would take America back to the “Dark Ages.”
“You purport to be an objective journalist,” Shapiro sniped. “BBC purports to be an objective, down-the-middle network. It obviously is not, it never has been. And you as a journalist are proceeding to call one side of the political aisle ignorant, barbaric, and sending us back to the Dark Ages, why don’t you just say you’re on the left.”
This caused Neil, chairman of conservative magazine The Spectator, to chuckle and tell his guest: “If you only knew how ridiculous that statement is you wouldn’t have said it.”

I watched it during lunch smiling the whole time. The ending was fantastic:

And Andrew Neil works at the Spectator which is a very conservative publication. Hilarious.

Re: Random Politics
So can I be the first to say this: FUCK ALABAMA!
Re: Random Politics
Every state with a GOP legislature and governor is going to pass laws like this. This is exactly why the right closed ranks around Kavanaugh during his confirmation. (And why the entire Democratic Party should have treated Merrick Garland as an apocalyptic fight.) The right knows laws like Alabama’s are unconstitutional but they’re going to use them to take their shot at getting Roe v. Wade overturned (or severely limited) by this Court now that Kavanaugh is in the bench.

Re: Random Politics
I’ve seen a lot of blue-checkmark liberals firing off derisive comments about Alabama which leads me to think that they don’t understand the enormity of what’s happening with respect to abortion rights.
Alabama’s law is particularly extreme but some version of this is likely going to happen in every single state with a GOP legislature and Governor. The right is clearly readying to take its shot at overturning Roe v. Wade now that Kavanaugh is on the bench. And a maximalist law like Alabama’s gives the conservatives on the Supreme Court an avenue in which they could rule that there is no right to abortion, under any circumstances. More incrementalist restrictions are less likely to open the door to such an outcome. The Democratic Party needs to have a coordinated national strategy on this issue that goes well beyond hoping for the best from John Roberts.

This is a good time for blue-checkmark liberals to tell people who refused to vote for the "lesser of two evils" to go fuck themselves.

It is amazing that the only time Farage has won anything (and he has run for office a lot) is when he's been voted into the European Parliament.

I must say, he and his handlers took it very calmly. I fear that if that had been done to Trump, some of his acolytes would have murdered the guy, with Trump urging them on.

My guess it's because the Euro Elections are run on proportional representation rules whereas all the other domestic elections are run as first past the post.

So ... what's a "REO" in the housing context?
(It sure is a good thing I'm not the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.)

According to Wikipedia: "Real estate owned or REO is a term used in the United States to describe a class of property owned by a lender—typically a bank, government agency, or government loan insurer—after an unsuccessful sale at a foreclosure auction."Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 4:46 pm So ... what's a "REO" in the housing context?

I saw the note from Katie Porter, and she seems like a kick ass, no-nonsense type, so I was thinking it wasn't the lighthearted joke Carson is making it out to be. Then I went to Porter's Twitter. Yeah, she must be shaking her head in amazement that she sent a deeply insulting "gift," and the asshole is proudly displaying his ignorance.
