Unless the intended receiver was supposed to go to the end zone and either had a brain fart or got knocked off his route, then agreed.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.
Re: NFL Week 6 - Healthy Spleens All Around
Not sure who else is watching Houston/KC, but a bunch of stupid stuff at the end of the half.
First, this:
Stupid play call, for one. But then KC doesn't just bat it down to take over at the 39 instead. There's under a minute left by the way.
Then this shit:
Texans scored on their possession.

Re: NFL Week 6 - Healthy Spleens All Around
Throwing it to the end zone there doesn't seem like a dumb play call in the slightest. They pick it off, it's likely a touchback like we saw there. You complete the pass, well, it's a TD. Or if they pick it off before the end zone, it's an arm punt.
The incompletion is a risk, of course, but it's the same field position risk as letting a shaky kicker try and miss a long FG.

This is why South Carolina should have gone for it on fourth and three in regulation yesterday too.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:23 pm Throwing it to the end zone there doesn't seem like a dumb play call in the slightest. Granted it worked out for them
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Chris Meyers and Daryl Johnston are almost unlistenable.

Re: NFL Week 6 - Healthy Spleens All Around
Will honestly should have punted there. I hate saying that the punt was the top option in that scenario but with the way Georgia's offense had played ... it might have been. If going for it is No. 1 (and I wouldn't argue that) then punting is a close second. That field goal ... a distant 3rd.A_B wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:31 pmThis is why South Carolina should have gone for it on fourth and three in regulation yesterday too.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:23 pm Throwing it to the end zone there doesn't seem like a dumb play call in the slightest. Even Daryl Johnston criticized it. That call on Landry was embarrassing.
But having said that, the main takeaway from that game was that somehow, the Browns found a head coach who is even worse than Hue Jackson.

Anybody know what is the best season record one division has ever had versus another? The NFC West is 8-1 against the AFC North right now.

The NFL has a penalties problem.
Re: NFL Week 6 - Healthy Spleens All Around
No kidding, right? That's 6 straight plays.

At some point you have to tolerate the hand checking and holding that goes on every single play. That’s better than guys running into each other at 100MPH, right?

No prizes for stating the obvious, but the Chargers could be the NFL's most misbegotten franchise.
Not just that they were - once again - incredibly overrated going into the season, but that crowd last night must have been 75% Steeler fans.

In a stadium that only holds 30,000 to begin with. Just wait until they have to fill 70,000 seats next year.

The Chargers should fire Anthony Lynn for the onside kick decision. With the rule changes to kickoffs making onside kicks significantly harder to recover, the time remaining, and having all three timeouts in his pocket, there was no reason not to kick it deep.

I know I was pretty happy when they actually did it.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 10:07 am The Chargers should fire Anthony Lynn for the onside kick decision. The NBC crew, especially Michaels, ragged on the LAC stadium situation pretty relentlessly last night.

Colin Cowherd thinks Atlanta's issues are Matt Ryan's fault.
(ICYMI, Ryan yesterday became the first QB in NFL history to throw for 300+ yards, complete 80 percent of passes, throw 4TDs and 0 INTs and lose. He also has more games with a 140+ passer rating and a loss (3) than any other QB in NFL history, passing Tony Romo.)

Colin Cowherd and Jim Rome were the tipping point that sent me fully into the world of podcasts. I am convinced that a steady diet of these two can lead to early onset dementia.brian wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 10:45 am Colin Cowherd thinks Atlanta's issues are Matt Ryan's fault.

And the Falcons have given up more points than any other team in the NFL. (Dolphins have played on less game.)

Booger McFarland brings absolutely nothing to the Monday Night broadcast. He's completely useless.

He’s still feeling his way around things but useless is a bit too far. He gets bogged down and repeats things but I think that’s just repetitions.
ETA: and I realize now how stupid that sounds. Hope you know what I meant.

NFL is absolutely unwatchable with all of the bullshit penalties.

Re: NFL Week 6 - Healthy Spleens All Around
I’m not even sure why any non-Pats or Packer fans would bother even getting invested. The NFL will just call as many penalties as it takes to get them into the Super Bowl against each other.

TWO brutal calls - the same mistake by the same official.
Make it three - there was also the pass interference non-call in the 4th quarter.

It’s Monday Night Football and there’s nothing else on. I go back to not watching next Sunday. There’s no point. The Lions are mismanaged enough. They can’t beat the league office too.

I didn't even realize that as a pass rusher, it's legal to grab a guy inside his collar and yank him however you want.
