Maynard G. Krebs
It's the sixth version of The Swamp. What could possibly go wrong?
Re: Maynard G. Krebs
Bummer. Gilligan's Island was on my TV a lot when I was Little Sabo.
But to be honest, I thought he died a few years ago.

I had a boss that used to call me Maynard G Krebs...
Course I was a bunch skinnier & had a little tiny chin goatee.
RIP. Kinda sad, I grew up on Gilligan's Island.

That link is from 2005.
BFJ is the town wizard who runs a magic shop. He also has a golem that he has trained to attack anti-Semites.
Re: Maynard G. Krebs
RIP...loved Dobie Gillis. Wish that shit was on Netflix so I could go back and see just how much I don't like it today.

YEah, pretty sure he died some time ago.
At least Giff is doing OK.

Re: Maynard G. Krebs
As per Google, date of death was Sept. 02, 2005
OK, I'm officially curious....how did this story pop up on your screen HDO? Is the today show really promoting 7 year old links?

No, but it's starnage that someone would initially post something from 2005 and that it would go (somewhat) viral.

Re: Maynard G. Krebs
What's starnage about it? Fuckface is, after all, ground zero for people passing around mistakes as facts. "Oh, look, a photograph of puppies sleeping in a pile and a quote from Bob Marley about unconditional love pasted over it that in reality Marley didn't remotely actually say! Please like this and share it with all of the other suckers in your Fuckface Address Book!" Happens millions of times every day on the world's largest computer virus.Rush2112 wrote:No, but it's starnage that someone would initially post something from 2005 and that it would go (somewhat) viral.
Far more idiotic constructs have senselessly gone viral than the obituary of a relatively obscure television actor from a generation utterly unknown to the typical Fuckfacer. Although doubtlessly millions of college kids took two seconds to slacktivist up a "RIP actor guy that I think I heard of once and that my Dad might have heard of" and paste it on their account as if they've done actually something, without having bothered to learn anything. Just another super-sparkly Facefuck day!

Re: Maynard G. Krebs
True. Though the people that posted such things, at least on my timeline, are those people who actually know who Bob Denver was (and actually one of them I've watched Gilligan's Island with countless times.) I remember the day that Mr. Denver died due to my going down the rabbit hole of Gilligan and Dobie Gillis videos, I'm surprised that others that have an affinity for the man's work would have remembered that as well.Scottie wrote:

Re: Maynard G. Krebs
I'm guessing it actually started via a wonky headline algorithm on some news site. Invariably, when I read an article about UVA basketball on the Charlottesville newspaper's website, one of the prominent "Other Popular Articles" links is a headline about a player who is transferring. I clicked once and it was a news story from 3-4 years ago. And it's always right there, alongside other stories actually from the last few days.
Totally Kafkaesque

Probably generating enough hits from you and about 12 other people who keep clicking on it to keep it afloat.Shirley wrote:I'm guessing it actually started via a wonky headline algorithm on some news site.
