Mike Bloomberg Gave the DNC $300K Two Days Before He Entered the 2020 Race

And now the DNC is changing its rules in a way very favorable to ... Mike Bloomberg.

So the DNC is cool with 4 more years of Trump. This is so nakedly obvious that progress is bullshit to them. All that matters is money.
DNC: “We can’t support Bernie because he’s NOT A DEMOCRAT.”

Also DNC: “Let’s change our rules to benefit a Republican mayor who campaigned for GW Bush, championed stop and frisk, and was generally oppressive to Muslims and racial minorities!”

It’s almost like “being a Democrat” has nothing whatsoever to do with policy and is all about keeping money flowing to the right lobbyists and consultants. The fact that Sanders doesn’t do that, and is still a prominent US Senator, is why they despise him.

When you think of Joe Rogan is racist andhomophobe one of the first things that comes to mind when describing him?

First line in the CNN article.
Bernie Sanders is facing a backlash from some Democrats after his campaign trumpeted an endorsement from comedian Joe Rogan, a popular podcast and YouTube talk show host with a history of making racist, homophobic and transphobic comments.

Establishment Democrats are grasping at straws and freaking the fuck out because their world will get rocked if Bernie becomes the nominee. Full stop.

They will throw all the bodies and mud necessary to paint a picture that anyone who supports him is a piece of shit. When a dude like Joe Rogan says "I like the guy and will probably vote for him" in response to a question from shitheel extraordinaire Bari Weiss, that's red meat for woke liberals.

How dare Bernie accept a vote from him! He said a thing I didn't agree with one time! Context be damned!

Fuck off, bitch. That's why Trump won.

I'm gonna vote for Sanders in the primary. I'm in the military. The military employs people to kill people. By virtue of being in the military, I'm murderer adjacent. Therefore I'm also a piece of shit because murder is bad.

I thought Rogan's response was good. And his take on trans women in MMA really should not be controversial. It's become conventional wisdom on the left that trans (or intersex) women should of course be allowed to participate in women's competitions, but I don't think it's nearly that clearcut. At the highest level, testosterone can clearly make a difference. That's why athletes of all sexes and genders have been using it for doping purposes forever. So to suggest that Sanders needs to "disavow" Rogan based on those comments is ridiculous. And Rogan is absolutely right in that video that this is all part of coordinated response to try to stop Sanders' momentum.

It's not that healthcare-related personal financial disaster and bankruptcy are "too complicated" to address. It's that there are other ways to address those with much less political, social, and fiscal difficulty than single payer. Those steps I suggested a few posts ago would result in massive benefits - as the ACA did.

I'm not saying people should be left to die without insulin. I'm saying let's solve that problem in a way that doesn't require a politically unlikely remaking of our economy.

ding ding ding

I don't have an issue voting for Bernie or Liz, but single payer is more of a negotiating point to get us to universal coverage. There's no reason to do on that hill.
I think it’s fair to say that the GOP will vigorously oppose any Democratic proposals on health care. So rather than pre-comprise, I’d rather see the Dems stake out a very aggressive starting point. No reason for them to negotiate against themselves. And at this point there’s really no empirical evidence that a watered down proposal is necessary to be competitive in the general election.
To be clear, we're agreeing. That's what I'm saying.

Predictions for tonight?

1. Sanders
2. Warren
3. Pete
4. Biden

Biden gets less than 15%.

I see no way Biden gets less than 15%. I would be less surprised to see Pete/Warren dip and then have to scatter.

It's incredibly hard to predict Iowa, mainly because of the whole "second choice" aspect. And the fact that randos like Yang can pretty much live in the state for 3 or so months and totally put their thumb on the scales in a way polling doesn't reflect.

So many weird variables. The one I'm most interested in is where Cory Booker's field operation gravitated towards. I also will state (again) that Warren's campaigning is top notch and she has a very dedicated crew in Iowa. I think she's going to surprise tonight and come in third.

I think you're going to have three or four people get around 19-23 percent, and the media will declare one of them to be a huge "winner".

My middle son has been there for two weeks with my mom, while she's there to help lighten the load for my sister and family while my brother in law works around the clock during this season. Kid got to meet Klobuchar, Yang, and Pete yesterday.

Apparently CNN hung up on a dude giving results.

What I'm reading online is that it's Sanders, Warren, Buttigieg, Klobuchar, Biden.

If that's true....🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Fuck Biden.

It's fitting that Robby Mook was apparently integrally involved in picking the caucus results app that malfunctioned tonight. He gifted Trump the Presidency in 2016 by running an incompetent General Election campaign and now four years later he's making the entire Democratic Party look incompetent. Now Biden is using this to question the results -- perhaps a sign that he really will finish 5th -- even though all the on the ground reports I saw said that Biden's support was feeble at best.

Gotta love how this shady shit is going down.

All because Bernie and Warren are going to blow out the party.

Pathetic.

ETA

Being awake right now has its privileges

Ok, so it isn't necessarily shady shit. My God the stories of this unmitigated shitshow, though. Bernie has internal polling numbers that he's ahead. Pete claimed victory based on nothing. No one wants to use the app to certify vote counts. Disaster. It kind of saved Biden's ass a bit because he won't hear how poorly he has done until the following day. Klobuchar is saying she's ahead of him.

Good job, Iowa

I'd say if this stuff holds, how it stands is what I was hoping for. Warren/Sanders showing they've got great support and Pete being in the mix (regardless of the hit pieces and whatnot, I don't think he's a bad person and I do think he's the best of the remaining options for having elements of progressivism if/when the system manages to fuck Warren/Sanders over.

Why not just figure out a hack that fucks up the count in his favor, make a clean win.

This muddled mess doesn't really do anyone favors.

The fact that dude's connection to Mayor Pete is so out in the open makes it really hard for me to believe there's fire here.

Look.. app problems aside, the scruteniers know the result. NBC had reporters on site in some gyms reporting delegates.

Such as
Sanders 4
Warren 3
Pete 2

But officially they haven't announced one single result from the 1600 areas.

Along these lines... There's a paper trail and the caucuses are done out in the open. You can't fake the results because people at any given venue know all too well how things went down.
