Things like that remind me that you can call something "re-opening," but it's going to be so difficult and different that it may not be worth the cost.EdRomero wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 12:18 pm A reopening guide was just made available for Massachusetts day care programs and camps. Just the new staffing and space requirements will probably put a lot of places out of business. Some highlights
Prepare the materials and equipment to be used by children to minimize sharing and promote distancing.Group sizes must be restricted to a maximum of 10 children, with a maximum of 12 individuals
including children and staff in each room. Guidance to maintain these group sizes includes the following:
(1) Children must remain with the same group each day and at all times while in care.
(a) When suitable to children’s ages and developmental level, siblings in attendance at the
same time must be kept in the same group...The same staff must be assigned to the same group of children each day for the duration of the program session (if weekly or monthly) and at all times while in care. Staff must not float between groups either during the day or from day-to-day, unless needed to provide supervision of specialized activities such as swimming, boating, archery, firearms, etc.Daily Screening: Programs must screen all staff and children before they are permitted to enter the child care space following the requirements below. (1) Establish a single point of entry to the program to ensure that no individual is allowed to enter the building until they successfully pass the screening. (2) Designate specific program staff to conduct all screening activities and thermometer checks, and establish a designated screening area (e.g., a side room or enclosed area close to the point of entry) that will allow for more privacy in order to ask questions confidentially or conduct a temperature check. Unless a physical barrier, such as a plexiglass screen, is used, the space used for screening must allow for social distancing of childcare staff from child/family while screening is being conducted (i.e. at least 6 feet of separation). (3) Health check responses and individual temperature check results must be recorded and maintained on file. (4) Verbally screen children and parents asking the following questions. If any of the below are yes, the child must not be allowed to enter the building. The child must return home with their parent or caregiver. (a) Today or in the past 24 hours, have you or any household members had any of the following symptoms? • Fever (temperature of 100.0°F or above), felt feverish, or had chills? • Cough? • Sore throat? • Difficulty breathing? Released June 1, 2020 Page | 11 • Gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting)? • Abdominal pain? • Unexplained Rash? • Fatigue? • Headache? • New loss of smell/taste? • New muscle aches? • Any other signs of illness? (b) In the past 14 days, have you had close contact with a person known to be infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)? 5 ) Staff must make a visual inspection of each child for signs of illness, which could include flushed cheeks, rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity), fatigue, or extreme fussiness. Confirm that the child is not experiencing coughing or shortness of breath. In the event a child is experiencing shortness of breath or extreme difficulty breathing, call emergency medical services immediately. (6) Programs must include non-contact temperature checks (using a scanning or temporal thermometer), conducted by designated staff, as part of their screening protocols. To ensure that staff conducting temperature checks are able to do so safely, the following protocol must be followed:
Parents and staff must sign written attestations daily regarding any household contacts with COVID-19, symptoms (e.g., fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste, or diarrhea), or if they have given children medicine to lower a fever. (c) Individuals who decline to complete the screening questionnaire or have temperature checked will not be permitted to enter the program space.Stagger recess and play outside one group at a time. (7) Refrain from games and activities that encourage physical contact or proximity of less than 6 feet, like tag or circle time
Spaces for children must be organized in a way that allows staff to enforce and maintain consistent physical distancing guidelines. Physically rearrange the room to promote individual play, including setting up individual play activity stations like puzzles and art. Space activity areas/centers as far apart as possible.
Ensure adequate supplies to minimize sharing of high touch materials to the extent possible (art supplies, equipment, etc. assigned to a single child) or limit use of supplies and equipment by one group of children at a time and clean and disinfect between uses.

Half-jokingly told my wife we should open up a summer camp. There's no way established entities are going to be able to operate at a profit like that. But a side hustle? Sure... I can buy an inflatable pool and some yard games.

We got the outline of operations for the summer camp our kids will attend that is put on by the Y. A lot of stuff sounds good, but we'll see how it goes, especially since most of the people who will be enforcing the new rules are teenagers.

I'm signing the kids up for a whole bunch of online classes instead of camp. NJ is allowing camps starting July 6. If by some miracle we feel comfortable, I'll just send my daughter to the town playground camp, if they do it. We usually send the kids to a variety of camps, some academic some outdoor activities. My son would have gone back for a week of sleepaway camp, but that's not happening. Really worried about what I'm going to do with them.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 4:04 pm We got the outline of operations for the summer camp our kids will attend that is put on by the Y. Alberta is moving forward, i might be eating out going back the gym soon! And I still owe my wife an anniversary dinner.

Stage 2 will allow more businesses and services to reopen with two-metre physical distancing requirements and other public health measures in place.
That list includes:
K-12 schools, for requested diploma exams and summer school.
Libraries, with some restrictions.
Places of worship.
Wellness services, such as massage, acupuncture and reflexology.
Personal services, including esthetics, cosmetics, skin and body treatments, manicures, pedicures, waxing, facial treatment and tanning.
Movie theatres and theatres, with restrictions.
Community halls, with limits on attendance.
Team sports, with restrictions, for up to 50 players.
Provincial campgrounds can operate at full capacity.
"Let me stress that no one should feel obliged to participate in any activity until they are ready and confident to do so, and that includes reopening businesses that have been affected," Kenney said.
Areas that were part of Stage 3 but have now been moved forward include:
Indoor and outdoor recreation, fitness and sports centres, including gyms and swimming pools, with measures in place.
Concerts, casinos and bingo halls, arcades and video lottery terminals in restaurants and lounges.
Events and gatherings that can be larger in Stage 2 include:
Indoor social gatherings — including wedding and funeral receptions and birthday parties, with a maximum of 50 people;
Outdoor events and indoor seated events, including wedding and funeral ceremonies, with a maximum of 100 people.
As long as public health measures and physical distancing are in place, there will no longer be caps on the number of people who can attend worship gatherings, or patronize restaurants, cafés, lounges and bars.
Still not approved in Stage 2:
Social gatherings that exceed above listed maximums.
Regular in-school classes for kindergarten to Grade 12. Classes will resume in September.
Vocal concerts (as singing carries a higher risk of transmission).
Major festivals and concerts, large conferences, trade shows and events (as these are non-seated social events and/or vocal concerts).
Nightclubs.
Amusement parks.
Hookah lounges (permitted for food and drink only).
Major sporting events and tournaments.
Non-essential travel outside the province is not recommended. This recommendation will not be lifted until Stage 3 of the relaunch strategy.

A woman that lives in our cul-de-sac was taken away in ambulance this morning.* She works at Suburban Hospital and it's obviously just speculation, but she was taken out on a gurney, so... Maybe COVID?
* - It was weird to see an ambulance over there, at the same house where the previous owner had an ambulance show up about once a week for a number of years. She was a major drug addict, but because her family came from money, she was able to live there in relative comfort for quite some time.

So we have the option to go to work this Tuesday, first come first serve it seems. I'm in no hurry, I want to go back last. This seems like a real pain-in-the-ass but there are workers begging to go back. I'm curious if this will be the future of your workplace as well.

Switching threads...
My daughter says she isn't comfortable going back to soccer practice next week. I don't want to force her, but we are going to drive by so we can see how they're handling everything.
Similar here. We hosted a graduation party on Tuesday, but had just one family over (though a couple of other kids came over). Outside or on the porch. No masks, but no hugs, either. Between the pictures earlier, and then the pool and fire pit, the kids were definitely not social distancing. The Sybian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 12:50 pm Last night we went to a friend's house for my son's 8th grade graduation ceremony. They did a live-stream on Youtube. Friend set up a TV outside and had 4 families over. While they said we were all staying outside, they left all the food and drinks inside, and most of the people stayed inside after the ceremony. Nobody wore masks. Kids were all over each other. One woman showed up saying she is doing hugs and hugged half the people there. I'm definitely not ready for that. It felt wrong, and if we knew everyone would be forced inside, I don't think we would have gone. On the other hand, there are currently 2 active cases in my town (excluding the 50 active Long Term Care cases). We had 4 community deaths, 52 LTC deaths. I'm starting to feel like we need to get shit back to normal, but then I think it's not worth the risk. I need to figure out summer camps in the next week or two, and in-person soccer practice for my daughter starts Monday.

Re: The Captain Trips Anxiety thread
So many teachers are getting laid off now because of decreased local tax revenue. I appear to be safe because I lucked out finding the right place to work (despite my past whining). I'm guessing this whole get back to work movement is a way to get people to forget about more stimulus action by the feds, so we can have our libertarian paradise with no money for schools or anything else silly liberals value.
